Infussion.eu poll - your favorite type of unflavored tea
We’re all friends around here. No offense given. No offense taken.
Topic changed! I hope now it’s well-suited!
Green tea (tea bags)inexpensively priced.
Hard to choose, but I have more greens in my collection – I love the buttery and sweet types of green tea. However, I do love a good white or a floral oolong as well.
Unflavored blacks I’m not big into. I have a few good ones, but I don’t seek them out much. But overall I’ve been buying less and less black teas as I want less caffeine.
You might want to look into this topic if truth is what you’re after. http://steepster.com/discuss/4253-important-facts-about-tea-leaves-sorting-out-common-misconceptions
Green oolongs or Chinese blacks! I have a love hate relationship with greens—Japanese ones I love, Chinese greens tend to be really hit or miss for me (but mostly miss, except for Dragonwell).
For me it’s exactly the other way round. I generally prefer Chinese to Japanese green tea’s. It’s probably the frying vs steaming process.
Most Japanese tea gets really uninteresting with water temperature above 70C/158F and over 30s steeping. Reaching such temperature takes a lot of time with full kettle of boiling water (think around 10 min with opened lid)! Time efficient methods include proper mixing with cold water or cooling in tea cups (Japanese style).
I respect others opinions.
I think you should too. I think it’s time to drop the subject before people get offended. People on here have expressed their opinion that they enjoy some flavored teas (matcha or otherwise), and I don’t think it’s fair to try and “prove” their opinion wrong. Especially with a blog post that is just another’s opinion (which I respect, but don’t necessarily agree with). How about we just agree to disagree? This is a thread about favorite unflavored tea types, not about whether flavoring a tea is “right” or “wrong”/ “good” or “bad”. We all have different tastes, and we all have different opinions. Share them, but don’t try to discount someone else’s if they don’t agree with yours.
Let there be peace in Steepster-land.
I am an oolong kind of gal! I love a good unflavored oolong (especially Jin Xuan, or “Milk Oolongs”). I’m also into white teas (Shou Mei and Silver Needle), and I am just starting to explore the world of unflavored black teas (Taiwanese Wild Mountain Black = Yum). Green teas are hit or miss for me. I’m going to start exploring them a bit more soon.
Pu-erh is also one I enjoy.
We’re definitely expanding our Chinese black tea selection!
Next one – go for oolongs or premium Japanese?
I’d go for premium Japanese, but then, I am a HUGE fan, so I am biased :)
personally, I only like light roasted TGY and Oriental Beauty for an oolong. Not a big fan, drink oolong now and then, and when they are gone, I won’t rush to a store to stock again, which I do when any of the Japanese teas are gone from my cupboard!
