An organic chamomile lavender is great for sleeping. Anything with lavender helps. A matcha or white tea might keep you up, because of the caffeine content. Some people are more affected than others by caffeine.
I recently ordered Extra Sleepy Bear from New Mexico Tea Co. http://www.nmteaco.com/Extra-Sleepy-Bear_p_186.html It has valerian, hops, skullcap, and catnip among other ingredients. The valerian and hops are what make it “extra” sleepy bear. They have another tea without the valerian and hops called Starlight Sleep (I believe it was previously called Sleepy Bear but they may have changed it so people weren’t confused between Extra Sleepy Bear and Sleepy Bear). I can’t wait to try this when my order gets here this week:)
Thanks for the lead on New Mexico Tea. I never heard of it, but I just placed an order with them – not just for this tea but a bunch of others. I had to get the koala tea! :) Then I found ways to justify the rest. Anyhoo, thanks GiggleGoddess! :)
Hmm this thread has me itching to play around with some sleepy time tea recipes.
I go for an herbal blend of rooibos, vanilla and cinnamon.
Anything with jasmine in it will generally help me settle down for sleep, but I know not everyone is a fan of jasmine. It just has a very soothing effect for me.
