I'm looking for a new matcha smoothie recipe

Anyone interested in sharing their matcha smoothie recipes. I am looking for some variety.

I generally do : 1 TBSP of matcha (flavoured or unflavoured), enough warm water to dissolve the matcha (1-2 oz), 1/2 cup flavoured yogurt, 1/4 cup milk, 8 ice cubes.

haha wowsers. And here i thought i used a lot of matcha in mine :) I’m glad that someone else out there uses more than me!

I’m usually 1.5-3 teaspoons; 2 cups of milk, some ice cubes, frozen banana and then depending on the flavour, other assorted frozen fruits :)

You don’t need to dissolve the matcha first. Just throw it into the mix. The blender will take care of it. :)

I usually put frozen bananas and almond milk as a base. Everything else is up to mood and availability. Lately it’s been all about mangoes!

wow, I use less matcha!

I max out a 1/2 teaspoon of matcha, most of the time 1/4 teaspoon. Then 1 to 1.5 cups of soy milk, scoop of soy protein, like 4-6 ice cubes. most of the time I shaker bottle it as I’m lazy.

I love adding kale (or spinach) and almond butter too – that’s a tasty combo! (though, that needs to be blended)

I was about to say the same thing regarding kale. I’ve done it with kale, kiwis, matcha, almond milk, and honey. It came out so good!

Nobody adds sugar? I have a sweet tooth!

Nope :) I’ve never needed extra sugar – the sweet from the banana and matcha seems to be enough :)

I usually get the sugar/ sweetness from the yogurt, unless I use plain.

Ohh, I didn’t think about the banana. Also when I use yogurt in smoothies its usually plain so I didn’t think about that adding sweetness either!

Here is an article that you might like: http://missolive.hubpages.com/hub/100-Matcha-Recipes

As for my favorite recipe of matcha smoothie, here it is:

Ingredients:

1 peeled, frozen banana (preferably a very ripe banana)
1/2 cup low-fat milk, coconut milk creamer or other dairy alternative
1/2 tsp. good quality matcha powder
(Optional) 1/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
(Optional) Sweetener to taste

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and even, stopping to stir if necessary.

Has anyone had luck making the smoothie at night and drinking it in the morning? I’m new to matcha and I got excited about matcha shakes for breakfast, but I don’t want to use the blender at 6 and wake my roommates up.

Guess I could just shake it too like Awkward Soul.

Also, if I’m mixing it with fruit anyway, would the matcha from Davids be good enough? It’s a lot cheaper to get a hold of than ordering from Red Leaf.

The Davids would be unflavoured but like you say, if you’re mixing it with fruit or some other flavouring you should be fine (assuming you want flavoured). I know a lot of people don’t flavour at all. I think hiding matcha in smoothies is brilliant.
