Cooking w/ Tea--Sweet Tea Ribs and Earl Grey Tea Cakes
Just wanted to share this recipe. There are some pretty cool recipes using tea out there, but this is my ALLTIME favorite, most delicious-A WHOLE MEAL with Tea Components and easy!!
SWEET TEA RIBS
This has me thinking I should make a tea risotto. Use steeped tea instead of broth. This could be fabulous…or terrible! :)
Sounds good to do with maybe a white or light flavored tea with a little chamomile- I can imagine like a floraly jasmine or chamomile risotto-
Mmm, risotto could even be good with a mate, or something nutty. Maybe genmaicha? So many possibilities…
Thanks for sharing! I love baking. I’ve made these earl grey shortbread cookies before and they were pretty fab, too.
Reminds me I need to find something to do with this Lapsang Souchong
Jerky, now that’s my kinda talk- I make jerky all of the time—Not sure if this was some inside joke or something and never had a Lapsang Souchong, but some kind of tea inspired jerky sounds interesting
You had me at Sweet Tea! _ I’ve never really had a reason to make a bunch of ribs, but I think I’m gonna have to find one!
Hmmm, this looks awesome! Does anyone know what I can make with Genmaicha? I have 30g of it and am not a fan of it at all but it might taste good cooking with it.
The earl grey recipe looks good. I made muffins with earl grey that I really liked.
Google “Earl Grey marTEAni!” So great!! It my new go-to drink.
There are lots of recipes for earl grey cupcakes out there… including some with earl grey cake paired with lemon or lavender frosting and some “earl grey chocolate” varieties. I went for a lavender cake and earl grey frosting for something different…They were a big hit! Here is the recipe I used: http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/982543/lavender-cupcakes-with-earl-grey-icing-recipe
There is also a recipe called “Earl Grey Magic Cake” that I’ve been wanting try…
My go-to tea cake: http://www.shutterbean.com/2012/chocolate-earl-grey-cake/
I’ll probably try it with Verdant’s breakfast blend, since the flavours in that tea would go so well with chocolate. I have an earl grey puerh that might be good in it as well.
I have a cookbook that’s all recipes that use tea in some way (it’s a pretty small book, but there are a surprising number of recipes). My two favorites are the Chocolate Oolong Bread and the Matcha Cake with Lime Matcha Buttercream. They tend to be kind of fancy-schmancy recipes, calling for some rather exotic ingredients (like, there’s one that involves sea bass, and another that involves watercress), but one day I will try them all! Some other recipes to note are the Earl Grey Biscotti and the Chai Custard Ice Cream. There’s even a hot toddy recipe. :3 Unfortunately, the book is in a box in storage right now… T_T
