My new "system"!
So, now that I’m full-swing into a tea habit, I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with the best system for me to sip tea while I work every afternoon. (I’m a piano teacher. I sit in a comfy chair next to a small desk for about 4 hours straight teaching 6 days a week.)
I needed to be able to have enough tea to sip slowly through at least a couple of hours at my desk. But, if I made a big pot or a big mug, it would get too cold. And having a teapot warmer would be way too precarious on my small, cramped desk.
Don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, but today the solution occurred to me! I have a nice stainless steel, insulated travel mug that’s actually quite pretty. This one in blue: http://www.gocontigo.com/autoseal-stainless-steel-travel-mug.html It’s got a big button you press to open the sipping opening, so it’s spillproof. Also, I just bought the pretty 6oz double-walled tea glasses from David’s. So…. I brew enough tea in the teapot to fill one glass and the travel mug (22oz total) and take both to my desk. The tea stays hot for a couple of hours, and I can just serve small amounts in the pretty glass throughout my teaching. Ahhhh… The mug takes up way less space on my desk than the teapot, and it’s a lot more klutz-proof which is very good if you’re me.
Anyway, this solution lets me enjoy drinking the tea from a small glass (which is very aesthetically pleasing to me), and also enjoy the convenience of a thermal travel mug! Yay! Sipping tea while I teach makes the whole afternoon more pleasant.
Small things make me happy, but I know a lot of tea drinkers must be this way too. Having things just right for your maximum tea enjoyment is important, right?
haha welcome to the land of contigo! I love those suckers. I pack two up every morning to take with me to work :)
You could try whiskey rocks or coffee joules. Both are rocks that are designed to hold heat or cold. So you can keep your drink hot, or keep it cold without watering it down.
