"Spring Snow" Book and Tea Club
What sort of teas will we be having for this book? Perhaps something in green teas or Spring teas? Or both?
I set the discussion date for May 8th, hope that works for everyone!
Did we reach a consensus about the teas? Groups of 4 for swapping like last time? Or individual partner swaps?
I should have my book by the end of next week! Can’t wait to start reading this one.
I’ll be reading what you post, but looks like I have to skip this round. Hope to be back for the next one!
OH, we have a new book?? LOL, I totally missed the discussion on the American Heiress! I’ve been so busy this past week with rehearsals, performances, students, etc, that I haven’t visited the discussions at all.
I’m in. I’ll check with my local library. I want to not read it too fast. I finished the last book weeks before the deadline!
I did too, Terri. My library doesn’t have the book so by the time I order it, receive it, and finish my other book it should be perfect time to finish it just before the discussion date (rather than weeks ahead of the discussion date!) :)
Terri and Josie, same here. I’ve got the book, but I’m going to try try to postpone reading it until closer to our discussion time. It won’t be easy!
I just picked up Spring Snow from the library…and was kicked out! I had my Chihuahua with me. Dogs are not allowed. (But I’ve seen a big kissable pit bull there before, it is a friendly, urban kind of library branch.) The library was practically empty, as it had just opened. I had my dog wrapped in my sweater so only her little face peeked out. I grabbed my book from the reserved section, checked it out right by the door, the librarian smiling at us, but then his smile faded as he looked over my shoulder…I was just about to leave— a librarian (manager?) came up to me and said unless my dog was a service dog, not allowed. Of course I apologized profusely, but basically she stood by me until I was literally out the door, even though I promised I’d never bring her again, look I’m literally walking out the door, just getting my library card back… So that’s my adventure in picking up Spring Snow!
Oh no! That’s so silly to me! I have never seen what the big deal is if you’re carrying your dog . . . I could understand if it was a huge dog walking on a leash, but a dog wrapped in a sweater? So silly! Glad you made it out with your book and the pup!
i think chi’s should get free passes at the library! Mine loves to sit in my library books at home :)
Aw, sweet! Mine sees me grab a book and she starts doing a happy dance since she knows she can cuddle on my lap.
Looks like these are the people who up for another tea swap:
This will be a partner swap. Please send 1 tea. Send enough for 2-3 cups.
I don’t want to spoil anything for those of you that have not started reading….but any kind of tea will do here: Japanese or English type teas.
I will very much enjoy hearing about the teas you are sipping, and can’t wait until we discuss the book; however, I’d like to not participate in the tea swap. Thanks. : )
If there’s room I would like to join this time around too. Ive been sick the last two weeks and didn’t participate in the discussion about the “American hairess” but I loved the book. And however y’all decided to set it up is fine with me- small groups or partners.
Welcome, Sandy’sCuppa! Hope you’re feeling better :)
Thanks for getting the list together, threewhales. Do you want to pair people up? I can help if you need it now that I’m finally caught up on my homework!
Just ordered my book today from Half.com. Now waiting patiently for it to arrive. :)
Spring Snow is part one of a tetralogy.
Parts 2,3 and 4 will all be available on the kindle April 9,2013! Woohoo!!!!!
The order of the books are:
The Temple of Dawn
The Decay of the Angel
If I like this book I am thinking of starting with the rest. I think they may also make for a good next book discussion if everyone else likes this book too.
I am definitely reading the rest.
I ended up getting Spring Snow on loan from the open library. I will only have the ebook for another 5 days. So I will finish this week. That is a long time to wait to discuss, but I am making notes. I doubt I will forget, the book is so darn good:)
I’m so excited to start this book! I am holding off until it’s a bit closer to the discussion: I read American Heiress a month before it last time but I feel like this is going to be a book I want to savor rather than breeze through.
Looks like the 1st one is out on the 9th too. I guess I’ll snap that one up instead of borrowing from the library. :D
I am getting ready to pair us up for the Spring Snow tea swap.
I am following everyone now. Please follow me back so we can exchange PM’s.
I will be messaging everyone with your partner and address by Saturday March 30th.
Final call for tea swap participants:)
My library doesn’t have the book, so I won’t joining the bookclub/ swap this time.
Darn it! You’re sure your library doesn’t connect with libraries outside its system? I’ve done that; there’s a special form to complete and so on.
Or…Josie Jade has let us know on the previous page that the book is available for 99 cents. (Thank you, Josie Jade!)
On Amazon, I saw used editions for $1.25.
If I owned a copy, I’d read real fast and mail it to you!
