Best Online Tea Store

Just trying to get a general consensus on the best online tea store. I want to make an order today and want to make a good choice. Just say the name and I will tally up which one got the most suggestions. I know people love different places for different reasons, but if you had to pick just one. I don’t know if I’ll even listen, but I am curious. I am really leaning in the direction of Butiki.

Butiki! Doo eet!

Actually besides the fact that I love her teas, she does have a great selection of both straight and flavoured teas. Is there anything particular that you’re looking for in an online store? or the teas you’re looking for?

PamDZ said

Nothing really in particular. I like light floral-y teas. For my first trip to my local tea merchant I got a variety of Oolong, White, Green, Matcha and Rooibos. I really do not like Rooibos. I love jasmines and lavenders. I am getting a little bored of them though. In my Butiki cart yesterday I had
Anxi Tie Guan Yin
Flowery Pineapple Oolong
Cantaloupe & Cream
Pineapple Cilantro Cream
Potato Pancakes & Applesauce
Tamarind Pop
I had never really been into so many flavored teas, but these just look so appealing.

I second Sil. Butiki is pretty amazing. The teas are very good quality, and the flavouring is always well-suited to the tea without being over-powering. I have only had a few of the ones on your list, but the rest are ones I’ve seen Steepsterites rate very highly, and I’m sure you wouldn’t be disappointed.

If you try Butiki this month, I’d say keep on eye on 52Teas afterwards as their weekly blends are announced, and maybe try Verdant (great quality teas – mostly unflavoured), or Della Terra (flavoured, but they always have sales and offer 1oz sizes). Those, and DavidsTea, are the companies I order from the most.

I like DAVIDs because there isn’t one near me. But if there is one near you and you don’t have to shop online, I like 52teas.

I like everything I’ve tried from DAVIDsTEA so far.

Teavivre.com if you are looking for good quality, fair priced, straight teas. The sample packs are good. Customer service is excellent. Shipping costs are good, but takes a little while to arrive.

I second this if you like good straight teas, especially with their sample packs. Downside is, if this is your first order it will take a bit to get to you (unless you pay for upgraded shipping)

Free shipping for orders over $30 – (North America: 22-30 Days).

Another teavivre fan here!! I order most of my (Chinese) teas with them. excellent teas, shipping costs very cheap, outstanding (after) sales.
won’t order in the States due to shipping rates and fact that most only take credit card payments.

Teavivre and Harney and Sons for me!

TeaVivre gets my vote, too! Quality teas, good selection, and great prices. Generous free sample program, and they offer bags or tins for storage. Shipments to California take only 8 to 10 days to arrive.

www.teavivre.com (if you like unflavoured teas).
www.verdanttea.com (also if you like unflavoured).
www.davidstea.com (if you like flavoured).

Those are the three I buy from the most frequently and consistently enjoy the product.

Upton. I get 2 or 3 full size teas and one bajillion samples at between 1-2 dollars each. (I’m a gajillionaire, you see.)

I love upton too. I like looking through their print catalog though.

Yes! Upton is fantastic, too!

What are your favorite unflavored black &/or Pu-erh teas that are both full-bodied and smooth from Upton? Thanks!

Anyanka said

I’ve never had any of their Pu-erhs and I’m slowing getting through a lot of samples of their blacks. I’m especially enjoying this one and will be ordering a big sack of it: http://steepster.com/teas/upton-tea-imports/35888-kamakhya-estate-gbop-spl-ta35 it’s dark and smooth and malty and toasty (but not very complex and certainly not floral).

Your description of Upton’s Kamakhya Estate sounds enjoyable. Thanks!

I hope other people like it and I don’t lead folks astray. I love it. Although, I should change my rating and say it stinks to try to help make sure they still have it when it’s time for me to reorder. :)

That’s so funny. The word is out now, you can change your rating all you want :-)

Well, I think I am going to have to go with Teavana, I really do not want to cause their tea is more expensive,( well not really more expensive, but I like a 1 oz. option) but I am buying the Remi mug from there and its free shipping at 50. Well, I will try a new place next month.

zentealife.com is another good one.
Tealux.ca has a billion different blends that it seems like I’m the only one trying — I’m not sure why, as they are good!

But definitely Teavivre and Butiki! I know I’m forgetting a billion right now, but that is probably a good thing for you!

Agreed! I thoroughly enjoyed the Earl Grey Cream from Zen Tea Life that you recommended as well as their Assam Mangalam Second Flush FTGFOP1.

TeaLady441 said

I’m a big fan of that Assam as well! It sounds like they have a sale on right now too – 20-40% off if you use “spring” in checkout.

I really like their berry rooibos as well.
