My tea station and cupboard

I am on the lookout for some shelves or racks for my tea, but in the meantime, I am using cardboard boxes… Silly, but I love to have my tea easily accessible. I have tons of cabinet space, but cabinets just get so messy!

Anyway… Here is my tea station!

Tea overflow (Bottom box is full of sample packets from Adagio, Davids, and Upton. Top box is herbal tea in bags.)

If you know of some type of small shelving unit or rack that might work for this space, let me know!

We are all so funny about our tea… This is the kind of thing I feel like I can’t share on Facebook, but here I feel like I won’t be judged. ;)

I have pics on fb of my whole tea collection, at this point it’s outdated. People comment how crazy I am all the time. I’m okay with it, lol

It’s our own special (contageous!) form of insanity though!

If we aren’t safe here with our tea obsessions, I don’t want to go on the internet anymore. :P Steepster rocks.

Neat idea. I like how the boxes are sectioned and all.

If you have the wall space, I recommend one of those wire shelves that you can get at home depot. They have a bundle that has a 3ft shelf, the mounting brackets and all the little pieces you need to mount it securely. Or you can get one of the wire shelves cut to a specific size, though you’ll have to buy the brackets and wall mounts separately. I have two of these up. One I use for my pots/pans, and one I put up above the sink for my tea. They’re super easy to install, though it helps to have a level. >> I managed to find a level app on my iPad, or else both shelves probly would’ve been slanted/crooked. XD The hooks that stuff is hanging from I got off of ebay originally to hang my pots from, but they work just as well to hang my teapots/mugs/whatnot too. Lol!

Here’s my tea shelf – http://tinyurl.com/TeaShelf
I’m still trying to figure out the best way to store those stupid ziplock bags all teas seem to come in, at least the ones I’ve gotten. Though I found a plastic fold top bin that just about perfectly fits the little sample baggies Adagio sells. It’s just the larger sizes that are being stupid pains. Lol.

Those are neat tea stations and storage ideas. I have been toying with the idea of wanting mine out of the cupboard but having no counter space to spare. I wonder about some under cabinet mounted shelves… Hm. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks all! I found the perfect solution. Unfinished wood CD storage crates! I ordered some, and I am planning to put them up in this space on their sides as shelving. Very excited.

I am spoiled with all my counter space. I live in a Brooklyn brownstone apartment, but the kitchen was renovated at some point, and whoever did it went absolutely NUTS with counters and cabinets. It’s seriously like I live in a giant suburban house. Of course, it’s a city apartment so things are arranged somewhat awkwardly, but there is a lot of space. I’m very lucky!

I don’t have any space to dedicate to tea…I live with my folks and my dad keeps the house very cold so I dislike having to trudge all the way across the house, freezing cold, just to make tea, and then run back and forth while the waters boiling. So I have a little setup in my bathroom (like at a hotel) with my electric kettle (on a large dish drying pad/towel – so afer I rinse out my cups they can dry:) and teaware. I have my teas stuffed in the boxes I’ve gotten from DavidsTea, Art of Tea, and a Teavana paper bag. Not in a fancy shelf system like you Rachel…just sitting in the boxes on the floor, lol.

That looks great!! I’m jealous that you have enough counter space to be able to do that.

Thanks Dexter!

I love it!

So nice!!! Where did you get those wooden containers?

Rachel J said

Thanks! Got the crates at JoAnn.com. They were out of stock when I first got the idea of using cd crates but came back in stock a couple weeks later. I got a free shipping code from my sister, so the grand total was only $22!

Okay, I got motivated today and decided to try to do something about my stash organization.

Nice job! I have that same little duck infuser. Haven’t used it yet, though.

Rachel J said

Nicely done! I am not a terribly neat and tidy person but there is something about tea that makes me want to keep all the tea stuff clean and neat.

Rachel J said

The little duckie is an infuser??? Cute!

Nicole said

Thanks, gals. The duckie is kept because it is cute, but it isn’t very good for loose leaf tea. Now, the CTC teas… I haven’t tried that and those might work well.
