Cold and flu fighting teas
Hello steepster friends…
I am new to loose leaf tea and to the site, and I find myself in the position of needing advise on teas that make you feel better when battling cold and flu symptoms…
Strong black tea with a spoon or two of raspberry jam in it is usual cold “medicine” where I live.
Mint, ginger, lemon, chamomile. I guess they make you feel better more than they fight the illness, but relief is nice too!
Thank you, any advise is appreciated. Am bed-ridden with clogged sinus and lungs. Will try all advise. Thank you.
Thank you Zeks for your reply. Are you able to recommend some strong black’s for me? Being new to loose leaf tea don’t know ’bout strong blacks.
By strong I meant the time it’s been steeped :)
If you are living in the US though if you order Laoshan Black or Golden Fleece from Verdant they might arrive before you get healthy on your own) I’d recommend others but seeing how they’ll have to come all the way from china…
Anyway, the key is hot drink and raspberry jam :) It doesn’t have to be tea.
Btw, for the throat I usually use a mix of 2 tb spoons of honey per cup of hot water and 1.5 tb spoons of apple vinegar. It’s good for washing the throat and is also tasty .
You could always try a spicy tea for unclogging your nose. A strong, cardamon-y chai could do the trick. Or perhaps Honey cayenne tea.
All you need is 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon of any black tea, 1 teaspoon of honey, and cayenne pepper. Steep it for 4 minutes and there you go.
