2013 Zhongcha (Zhongliang Jituan… Not KM Tea Factory) Bulang Shengtai— I took nearly seven grams of this in 150 ml gaiwan. I’m on my seventh infusion. I’m unapologetic. It disgustingly pleasing. Dark brassy colour, already. Cake looks like hell. The leaves are whatever, bits of this and that. Not packed too tightly however and it’s releasing nicely with quick infusions. Sweet, rock sugar sweet, bitter, both evenly balanced… lasting noticeable yun to the huigan evoking a sense of hormones, bubble gum, maybe turnip greens. I’m feeling a stabbing pain in my gut… must… drink… more. I’m really curious how this will turn out in a few years with good storage. Gonna call Scotty and find out how that time machine is working out… and McCoy… must drink just one more cup…

Today I drank the 2005 Langhe Gong Ting Round Cake Ripe by Langhe Tea Factory and obtained from Yunnan Sourcing. This was a very tasty ripe with a fair amount of fermentation flavor although I found no fishiness or funk to it. It was sweet with little bitterness and had notes of chocolate or cocoa, not sure which is a better description. I am not at all unhappy to have bought this tea. I don’t know where Langhe Tea Factory fits in with the scheme of puerh quality but this one was good. I think it was not quite as good as some Dayi productions I have had.

I had some 2014 Autumn Da Qing Gu Shu Pu Erh (Sheng) from Yunnan Sourcing. The mood struck my fancy for some Sheng tonight. Unfortunately I found this one too mild for my liking, and on a longer steep it was far too bitter and dry. May end up swapping this to something else in a bit. Oh well, I will carry on cross stitching and see where my mood takes me.

I’m enjoying the Yiwu Peacock from spring of 2013, thanks to Stephanie for sharing.
So…what to say about this tea…the aroma is very sweet, almost syrupy, the liquor is a beautiful amber. The tea itself is a little tart at first, then sweet like apricot, but with a bitter edge on the tip of the tongue to balance it out. The tea buzz is very clarifying, and a real ‘feel good’ kind of energy. I like that.
There is a floral after taste, especially in the 4th & 5th steeps, which also taste of dried bell peppers, weird but true.

Nice, nice.

Hello all. I’ve been on the site a few months, but I haven’t posted in the forums yet. Thought I’d throw my hat in on this thread, as I’ve been following it awhile. Today I drank what was left of my 2002 Gu Fo Aged Ripe from YS. I started last night but didn’t steep it out; I boiled it this morning and just took my last sip. And now I am sad. I want more, but I’m trying to get my tea spending under control and heaven knows I have enough to drink right now. Later in the day I’m going to revisit a sheng, I don’t know which one, but as my palate is changing, I am finding that I enjoy them more than I did a few months ago. Cheers!

Hello and welcome. Unfortunately, if you want to get your tea spending under control, you have come to the wrong place. This is a community of enablers. You especially need to watch out for that mrmopar. He’s a dodgy tea-pusher if ever I saw one!! :)

Thanks all! Roughage: I can see that! Between this place and /r/tea on reddit, I am surrounded! I love it though.

Drank my 2014 Ban Payasi by Chawangshop to see how it is coming along after a year in crock storage. I bought a tong of these for the insanely low price of $96. It is a Yiwu character tea and definitely not green anymore. Busily fermenting. Tastes now of malty bitter melon, but the after fragrance and huigan are sweet honey. It’s coming along but now at the stage where I won’t drink it again for a good long while.

Today is a sheng day: 2005 Xiaguan Tibetan Flame once more . My mouth is puckered dry with its smoky goodness and I am happy that it is aging well in my office. Sadly I am down to just 1kg of it left, so I am going to have to try to scrape together the money to buy a couple more tongs in the near future. This really is a jolly good everyday sheng.
