Caffeine Free Substitutes for Tasty Black Teas

So I tend to primarily drink flavoured black teas, generally in the spice/desert range. However I am quickly becoming unable to tolerate caffeine much past early afternoon, and am looking for some good substitutes. i like roobios but I have been underwhelmed by most of the desert roobios teas I’ve tried.

Help?

I love nuts, vanilla, caramel, coconut, all that good tuff.

Good question. I am the same way. I don’t like rooibos teas tho.
I have a bunch of herbal teas that I had hoped to drink at night ( mothers little helper from DT ) etc, but I rarely drink them…..a nice flavoured black decaf would be good …. Anyone try the ones from H and S? They have good reviews….

I find most herbal teas tend towards the fruity/floral/herbal, which aren’t really a replacement for black tea.

We have a Peppermint Patty herbal that uses a Marshmallow Leaf base and will soon have up a Birthday Cake herbal (it’s in stock, just not on our website yet) that also uses a Marshmallow Leaf base. Both are pretty desserty. http://www.butikiteas.com/Herbal.html

David’s Teas- Alpine Punch. Uh, Adagio has a decent rooibos caramel. It goes with the honeybush vanilla pretty well. If you like citrus, Della Terra has some great blends.

I’ve really enjoyed Celestial Seasonings’ Bengal Spice and Good Earth’s Caffeine-free Sweet & Spicy teas. Both of them are in the spicy/chai range.

I have the same issue with caffeine, and have found a number of flavored decaf black teas that are fairly good. My favorite is Harney’s Vanilla Comoro, but Upton and Adagio also make good decaf vanillas. Harney’s decaf Paris is pretty good, and Adagio makes a large variety of decaf blacks that I enjoy. My favorites are Strawberry and Mango, but I’ve had half a dozen that were all good. The best news is that all their teas are available as $2 samples. Also, Amazon is running a sale through June 17 of 25% off Adagio gift cards.

We have a selection of decaf black teas, including several decaf chai blends:

We also have caffeine-free fruity tisanes:

And some spice-based herbal teas that are caffeine-free:

Hope that helps!

I can’t drink caffeine during the day, as it tends to mess up my sleep patterns. What I’ll sometimes do is take washed apple peel and steep that, and sometimes add some fresh or bagged peppermint or chamomile, or even a touch of citrus peel. It’s nothing like tea, but with honey, it tastes delicious hot or cold.

Lupicia’s Orzo teas are a good caffeine free option, if you like strong, black tea flavors. They have a couple different flavors too – caramel, chocolate, chai and strawberry. http://www.lupiciausa.com/product_p/22290701.htm
