Support Our Tea Kickstarter for Quality, Ethical Tea Delivered

Hi Everyone

A couple friends and I have been working on an idea for a better way to buy tea. We think good tea should be a daily affair so we’ve started a company to deliver fresh tea. We’ve sourced top quality tea from around the world (only from members of the ethical tea partnership) and want to make it cheap to get that tea delivered to your doorstep.

However, we need help on kickstarter. For those who don’t know kickstarter, it is basically a platform to help start-ups get funding through rewards to backers (mostly pre-orders). We have reached the 7k mark for funding but only have 2 days left to make the rest of the way. If we don’t hit our target we get no money.

If your interested in the idea please check out www.teastorks.com where there is an entertaining video that explains the concept some more.

Thanks!
Graham from teastorks

curious as to how feasible this idea actually is
ie. is it more economical to ship small packages of tea often vs larger packages on a semi-annual time scale.
also how does fresh come into play, lets say i buy a lb. of tea and store it properly vs have small amounts shipped every week(i assume its just stored by you or in warehouse by someone else) as tea is only harvested at specific points. its not like going out to the garden and picking only what youre going to use.
and is this going to be for just the UK or global level?

just a few questions/thoughts that came to mind, im sure either way many people will love this concept, and it sounds pretty great from a sampling/variety standpoint. if im killing anyones buzz just lmk and ill delete this post.

Hey WtF

No worries about the questions, it always helps so we can refine the product.

Because of our packaging it’s pretty economical to send but I understand your point about buying in bulk being cheaper. One could buy once every 6 months and indeed I used to buy a lot of tea in a manner similar to that. The problem I always had was storing all that tea. I would always end up with multiple boxes of tea stuffed into my cupboard and I would eventually even forget what different blends I had. We’re hoping to provide just the tea you will need for a week.

With regards to the freshness, again one could buy all your tea and then have enough proper containers for storing the tea well but it ends up being a bit impractical (at least that’s what I found). Our tea is stored properly (vacuum sealed) until we send it to you. Your point is fair though, I think the selling point is not how much fresher the tea is but that we want to bring great quality tea from around the world, ethically sourced and delivered to you.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other Q’s, they do help.
