Material Used in Making Tea Sachets

Hi. Is anyone certain what material is used in making these fancier tea sachets? The fellow at the local Coffee Bean seemed to think it is silk, which it obviously is not. If it is some type of polyester synthetic material, does anyone see a problem with leaving these babies in your boiling cup of brew every morning, to later drink from? Has anyone seen the technical spec and boiling points of these plastics we dip in our hot water everyday?

They can be made of different materials (many companies claim theirs are compostable), but most seem to be some type of nylon mesh.

There was a pretty in-depth discussion about this a few months ago: http://steepster.com/discuss/5188-those-silky-but-really-plastic-tea-bags
