Anybody else have the tea blahs?

I got a stomach bug last week and ever since if I even think about black tea (my very very favorite tea) I feel queazy. This has me super bummed out as I have a bunch to try and I just don’t want to! I had a matcha smoothie today to keep up my tea intake but I have a serious case of the tea blahs bordering on the tea yucks! Green tea seems to be ok, but man, I hope this tea queaziness goes away!

Anybody else have the blahs? or the Yucks? What have you done?

I am an experimenter by nature. So when I get the tea blahs or yucks or am bored I start experimenting by blending teas together, or blending teas with foods. My most recent was a frozen watermelon green tea-tea pop. I like freezing tea into cubes and making tea slushies. Tea cocktails are good too.

I’ve been having tea blahs with the first flush 2013 Darjeelings. Tried 13 different estates, most of them from Mariage Freres and all have been BLAH. Really disappointing. So I’ve mostly been drinking High Mountain Taiwanese Oolongs lately. The Spring Flush Margaret’s Hope and Namring Upper have finally arrived at Mariage Freres so maybe there is salvation there.

I had a stomach bug 2 weekends ago, and couldn’t drink tea and when I recovered I didn’t really want to. I wanted simple club soda, or fresh juice on ice. I didnt want to try to guess at what something tasted like or try to convince myself something tasted good. I had been off hot tea for a while due to the warm weather, but even ice tea wasn’t appealing. I looked around at all my cupboards massively packed full of tea and thought “what have I done, why did I buy all of this??”…..do I really love tea, or did I just get caught up and go totally overboard? I don’t know…..for now, drinking club soda while some funny tasting mango tea sits untouched in the fridge….

I just went through the tea blahs and am only now starting to come out of it. For me, the heat was a big part of it. Even iced tea wasn’t cutting it. And I also think it was a little bit of burnout (no pun intended!). I just needed it to be ok for a little while if I didn’t drink tea every day or log it regularly. You’ll get back to it soon enough! And tea will take you back with open arms as if you’d never been apart.

Tea blahs from sickness: Substituting mint or ginger tea (puer works too) helps the stomach. However, when I’ve been crazy sick with migraines to the point of losing sense of smell/taste (to a degree), a plain ctc or grandpa style tea does it for me. No malty tea, simply clean, strong tea.
I also take tea outside, and always carry tea samples with me to share at my local tea shop once or twice a week. Cures my blahs!

I have so many swap packages and samples to get around to, and I’ve just been “meh” about it for weeks now. But I just got my very first gaiwan, so I really need to get cracking on come of my fancier teas!

i live where it’s sweltering and humid all summer long AND my electric kettle replacement is taking forever to come so predictably i have not been into hot tea in over a month. my answer’s been to cold steep teas—blacks are easiest (hard to mess up, can sit in the fridge for days without getting too bitter) but whites and greens are what i crave right now (there are few things finer than a tall glass of cold steeped butiki watermelon xylophone on a hot day). so it’s working out. i haven’t posted in my tea log in forever though ‘cause i tend to only when drinking a tea i haven’t posted about already, and i’ve been cold steeping mainly things i’ve already had hot.

Tea Blah’s…that would accurately describe what I’ve been feeling since Mid May. Kind of anyways. Where even the thought of prepping: deciding which tea to drink what mug/cup to use has been having me just grab a glass, ice and pop (Squirt, the only pop I drink now. I like putting MIO in it.) And icing the tea down? Meh.

I did perk up more with getting some new teas yesterday and a few weeks ago, I giggled to myself as I had all those baggies of tea spread around me, I thought “I feel like a kid in a just opened candy store” But back to feeling blah today, (Feeling blah in general…female issues.) I would have a cold cup of Chamomile tea to help my stomach, but I’ve found that I can’t stand Chamomile anymore, not by itself, or when it’s the prominent flavor. And Ginger, have to be in the right mood to have it, and if that’s the prominent flavor, sometimes I don’t like it. (Though not always.)
