Would you drink...unopened old tea?

For sure. If it is a light first flush it will have lost a lot of that lovely grassy freshness, but if it is a 2nd or autumn flush it may have actually improved. A lot of black teas gain a lot more balance and smoothness over time.

Have some 35 year old keemun. Tastes divine.

Critical factor is storage. A tea stored in direct light or poor surroundings will suffer.

I absolutely would, especially if it was air tight and away from light. Goodness, I’ve even drank stale tea. I just had to make it extra strong to get the appropriate flavors.

Better believe I’d crack that sucker open and (at the very least) give it a try! I once had a sample from Adagio that sat unopened in the depths of my junk drawer (still not too sure how it got there in the first place) for well over one year and a half. However, I’m not too sure how I’d feel about an old, opened, flavored tea with fruit inclusions (kinda like those flavored Teavana blends). That might be a gamble.
