Travelling Tea Box - The Great Canadian Edition (Round 1: Sept 2013) - SUCCESSFULLY completed!
Hey Everyone , sorry for the no responses. I have literally just moved and was getting settled in . If I could be included still, that would be great, maybe towards the middle-end ish if that works out. I am having my tea that I want to put in the box sent to me.
And it will still be there when it leaves my house haha I got that one as my free sample 4 orders in a row…hence the laughing ;)
Hi all, I’m having a really good time with the tea box. I’ve been posting tasting notes as I go (in case you aren’t following me). I would really like to be able to get the box in the mail to Sil after work on Monday – I’m hoping that will be enough time for it to get to her for the weekend. For this to happen I need to start choosing teas to put in the box….
Question: Would those after me prefer me to put in more flavored teas or more straight teas? Does anyone drink pu’erh? (straight? flavored?) (I don’t want to put stuff in the box that no one is interested in.) I’m asking again for requests – if anyone wants anything specific, please let me know, I will try and include it.
Lately I’ve been prefering straight teas, I’ve tried a few pu’erhs (only straights). I’ve tried 3 ripe ones and didn’t really care for either but I’ve liked the two raws I’ve had.
I’d like to try 99% Oxidized Purple Oolong and Bailin Gongfu Black Tea if possible!
I have both of those, will put them in the box. I’ll take a look around for some sheng (raw Pu’erh) for you, and I might toss in an AMAZING ripe one too. Not sure what you’ve tried, but some people don’t like shu because it’s too “in your face”, I’ve got a few that are really nice – will see what I can find.

I’m easy in so far as what I’d like to see in the box. I like straight and flavoured, so I generally just try to balance the box a little if it makes it to me unevenly. Given we’re so close to the start, likely it’s pretty full of lots. Ill open things up when it gets to me as well in terms of things people want to try…hopefully I’ll have gotten a few more of my smaller quantities of teas out of my cupboard by then. :)
I will add both flavored and straight teas to the box, I just didn’t want to make it flavor heavy if more people prefer straights or vise verse.
I’m having a hard time reigning in my excitement, there are a lot of teas I’d like to put in the box. Trying not to go too crazy.
Bentea – I broke off a couple of chunks from my Wild Monk Sheng cake from Mandala – that’s going in, still trying to choose a Shu (I have so many that I just love).
Ok, I’ve spent some time playing with my stash and the teas in the box. I’ve taken some out, I’ve tried some and put the rest back in. This is the tentative list for the box. I might play with it a bit yet, there is room for one or two more if anyone has any suggestions. Willing to listen to ideas if you feel I haven’t balanced it properly. Right now this is what’s in it.

I LOVE Tao Tea Leaf….The Jin Ping Gong Fu that I put in the box is my number one all time favorite black tea.
I was going to ask if anyone after me has any interest in red leaf matcha. I have containers that i can put some into if anyone really wants to try it.
cool! just didn’t want to be putting any in the box if there was no interest. I’ll add some for sure once it arrives.
I’ve been dying to try some of those matchas, but I’m quite a few people after you so I don’t know if I’ll get any. One can only hope ;)
I mailed the GCTTB tonight to Sil, I’ve sent her the tracking number. This was a lot of fun, and I still have a couple of teas that I took out to try.
The list I posted above is accurate to what is in the box.
Bumping this, since although it’s not IN my hands, the post office tried to deliver today so I get to go pick this up tomorrow evening. YAY!
Excited for the box! Picked it up this afternoon, dumped all the teas out on my table and then had to leave. Tomorrow will be a fun day, so many I want to try!
If anyone wants anything added, please let me know. I may try and pack this up today/monday just to get it moving if i can pull out the teas i want to try (most of them haha)
