How to review a place (yet again, wish there was a FAQ here)

I want to review a tea place—more properly, to eulogize a closed shop—and cannot see where I click to add a review.

So how do I do this, please?

I think you can only review shops that are currently open and listed on the map. I’m not sure how one would go about adding a shop that is either not on the map already or doesn’t exist anymore. I assume that, in order to add a place that does exist, you’d have to email Jason? Not sure about closed shops, though. Good luck :)

It’s odd you can add a shop that is closed and edit the info to say it’s closed, but not write a review for a closed place…

The problem is simpler than that, I think: when I click on the name of a tea, I go to a page that has the tea info on the left, reviews at the bottom, and a place for me to ‘add to cupboard’, ‘add tasting note’ etc upper right.

I see nothing like the upper right ‘add’ buttons when looking at a place (and I’ve tried with two different web browsers).

To add a shop, click “Add a Place” on the second black bar (it’s on the same ‘level’ as the ‘Find a tea…’ search; it’s got a green +). Like Cofftea said, you can select ‘Closed’ for it. I have never tried to review a closed shop myself, though (to review, once you’ve added a shop, open the shop’s page and click the 5-star rating below the name). I guess you can’t then. Huh. …Don’t select ‘closed’ until after you’ve written the review?

The click on the stars below the name was key, now it’s working.

Again, this site really really needs a FAQ. It’s not welcoming when it takes several hours and 3 replies to figure out something so simple.

Yeah, I took me awhile too to discover that I needed to click the stars before the review box can show up!

Yeah, the Places setup is kind of confusing. There’s been a few threads about it already, I think. All the more reason for a FAQ. Someone should write one.

Well, I mean, Shanti’s working on a Forum Rules FAQ, but an Overall Look At Steepster FAQ would be nice too.

For what it’s worth, this is still confusing! It seems like the way to add a review should be down by the text that suggests adding a review.

Yeah, the review process for the places is a bit confusing. I know I was confused the first time I did it. You have to give it a rating before a dialog to write a review pops up. I think that’s the part that isn’t clear.
