Yixing Mugs vs teapots- Same effect?

I don’t own a yixing tea pot quite yet, but was wondering, would a mug have the same effect on teas as a teapot would? Now, to those of you that do own a yixing, after the tea is done brewing, what do you drink it out of, a yixing mug? or something else?

I was wondering this myself, as I’ve been seeing yixing travel tea tumblers poppping up for sale http://www.nmteaco.com/Yixing-Tumbler-_p_649.html and curious how well they season.

When I use my yixing pot, I tend to go with a glass or porcelain cup.

That’s pretty interesting. Thanks!

I’ve been looking at that same tumbler and wondering how well it works.

I’ve never bought a Yixing Tumbler, but I have several small cups. I don’t know if you can remove the Yixing part from the metal/plastic casing. If you can’t I would completely avoid it. Yixing clay absorbs humidity and I can only imagine mold growing in the covered portion of the Yixing and it will eventually get in your tea. If you can remove it; give it a try, but chances are that something that size is not a good quality Yixing, especially if it is encased in something. You are supposed to boil your Yixing to clean it and then season it. It doesn’t mention anything about that. If someone has it, let me know what’s your experience :)
