Geek Pride Day Giveaway
The excitement is ramping up! As my students would say in full awe-struck mode, this is a seriously sick contest!
It’s the last day to enter the Geek Pride Day Giveaway!!!!!
I’ll be double-checking my list of entrants at midnight tonight (woohoo — night owl!) and perhaps even rolling up the winners. After all, D&D is best played at night (and sometimes into the morning and back into evening again — yes, I’ve had an epic game or two before), I’m super-excited to name the winners, and I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep without announcing the winners (woohoo — night owl!)
On a side-note: I ordered some food-safe zip bags from Sorbent Systems about 10 days ago and I have yet to get any notice of shipment or anything (though my credit card has been charged). I’m just getting nervous about getting my packages out on time. I’ll keep the winners posted in regard to when their packages will be going out — hopefully I’m just being a worrier, but I’d rather give y’all a heads-up rather than blindside ya that it might take longer for the prizes to go out.
Oh man, I am so excited about this – the possibilities for awesome write-ups are endless!
Sending positive fast-shipping thoughts in the direction of Sorbent Systems (South, for me)
Well, not only do I feel somewhat hosed by Sorbent, but Samovar apparently just shipped my order (some of it consisting of things for this contest) to some place in Nevada. I’ve sent them an email, but my blood pressure just spiked (which is not a good thing post blood donation). I’m feeling rather woozy, and not in the fun way :(
Just to update: my Sorbent order arrived today — woohoo! I guess tea companies have been spoiling me with emails that say that a package has shipped. So it was rather nervewracking to get the charge on the card and then hear nothing, but they are a large large company and I placed such a teeny-tiny order that I understand.
I also heard back from Samovar and they’re not sure what happened, but they have my package and will be shipping it via UPS instead of FedEx this time around since my address was correct.
I can’t wait. This’ pretty much perfect timing, since I’m going to a game today. My DM just texted me and said he’s turning it into a DnD BBQ. I’m charged with drinks. I’m worried though, because I’ve come down with a terrible cold, and I don’t want to spread it around by going. Stupid cold has terrible timing.
ooo so close, squeee
You beat me to the punch! I was gonna post something about it being less than three hours away! :D
it’s good to hear your counting down the moments as much as everyone else :) so, what kind of die are you going to use to pick the winner? ;)
last count i have ~24 entries, now i have a 20 sider and a 30 sider, but heck if i know if anyone even makes a 24 sider!
Excellent — my count was 24 as well :D
I hadn’t quite decided how I was going to roll. Since it’s an even number I think that I’ll roll a 20 sider to determine the numbers to assign people up to 20, the final four I’ll then roll a 4 sider to determine 21-24. I’ll then roll two 20 siders to determine who’s battling who. Then roll another two 20 siders (one’s purple and one’s green) and whoever rolls higher wins that round. 21-24 will battle amongst themselves (a 4 sider used to determine which of those 4 battles each other). Then I’ll do the same with the remaining 12 — basically randomly pairing those and rolling a 20 to determine winners. Then 6, then the 3 will battle it out for final placement of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Lengthy? Yes. But that’s how I roll ;) Seriously, if you’ve got any other suggestions I’ll take ’em :D
hmm sounds good, if you wanted to do it board game style you would start a sheet of everyone 1-24, then roll 2 or more d6 for each person, totaling them up (for each person), you should then end up with your high score-ers, take the top group and assign each one a d20 or similar and roll off, highest scores take it, ties settled on re-roll off among the two
but that’s board game style :)
Happy Greek Pride Day Y’all!!!!!
The contest is now closed to new entries :(
But now let the battle for the winners begin! I shall be back within the hour for the winners! Woohoo!!!!!
And I have the winners! It was a crazy session — I’ll do a synopsis of the battle in another reply since y’all might have fun knowing who you battled.

oh i did my best but Cait was just too strong ;) jk congrats to the winners and specially to you rabs for making this happen. lol wish we could watch a live stream. that would be fun…
Maybe next time I’ll figure out a live stream way to do it, but it’d be rather boring. It took the longest time to roll up the initial starting positions. Maybe if I narrated the battles themselves…::strokes chin thoughtfully:: We shall see…
http://www.ustream.tv ;) looking forward to it. with us on the chat thingy on the side could be really fun…
Congrats all can’t wait to read all of your reviews :-)
Well the Schwartz has certainly been with me! I got my teas and started playing the game. You can see 4 pictures—one of them is here:
Thank you so much to RABS for this inspired giveaway and I am very very grateful to have been a winner. I’ve got my first review up.
thanks for posting that (i can’t see the die, did i miss it)
it’s like your birthday, but with TEA!
I had the die somewhere in there, but it did not come through in the pictures. I think it was overshadowed by one of the wonderful packages! But yes, indeed, Rabs provided me with one. And an instructional letter. It’s so much fun!
I still plan on posting the instructions I sent out to the winners in about a week. I hope that if there’s any confusing aspects that the players will point them out and I can adjust it before posting. The only thing missing will be that I put one page of a D&D Character Sheet as the decorative back side of the instructions (tea-hee!).
And AmazonV: all the dice I sent out are a darker marbled green with white numbering :)
