Best place to order Milky Oolong from ?
Well I’m new to the world of teas but what really got me seriously interested in this passion was my first sip of Milky Oolong.
Unfortunately, the place I got it from sells it (and their teas in general) at a fairly high price. Quality wise they appear to be average from my very novice stand point. I’ve tried another place but found their Milky Oolong to taste like.. well just plain average Oolong.
I absolutely loved the very sweet and buttery scent of my first Milky Oolong experiment which I guess means it was scented. Probably regarded as a lesser quality I guess but to me the scented part really made it special.
Any recommendations for a decently priced Milky Oolong (Scented) that would ship to Canada ?

The place I got it from is Le Téh Bar, a local place in Montreal, not selling online (yet). Awesome staff, fun selection but as I said prices are somewhat high for what you get. As for quality, I’m too much of a newbie to judge but as I said, it seems ok, not outstanding.

Any had experiences with ishopo.com ? Their prices are very appealing and while the descriptions are mostly templated copy/paste, they seem legit to me.
Well, you’re looking for a tea that’s produced by a very specific combination of environmental circumstances – it’s not exactly common and that rarity demands a premium price!
That said, I looked at ishopo.com and they advertise a money back guarantee, so you could try it and see.
This page indicates that a “fake” milk oolong will not retain the unique characteristics for multiple steepings, so you should be able to tell the difference.

I clearly understand that you generally get what you pay for. The Milky Oolong from the Téh Bar is scented and indded loses it’s milky property after the 2-3 steeping. Still, first 2 steeping taste great and the following are great as “plain” oolong.
The other Milky Oolong which I’ve tried so far, half the price of the one mentioned above, doesn’t lose it’s milky taste but also never has a really pronounced one. It’s very subtle but still pleasant. I prefer the the Téh Bar for the first 2 steeping and the “Salon de Thé” one for the 3-6 steeping as it’s taste remains unaltered.
I’ll most likely try ishopo, their shipping is decent and their prices extremely low for milky oolong.. not much to lose.
As a side note, I’m seeing all kinds of contradictory information regarding how this type of tea should be steeped. Any advises on that ?
Hey, I know what you mean about the lasting taste of the Téh Bar Milky. But I have to tell you, it’s not often that a milky will retain it’s taste for much longer unless you’re willing to pay a very high price, and even then… Milky Oolong is typically a high quality Jade, rarer in nature, and the process to make it adds to the cost. All in all, I would say that the Téh Bar one is very good. That place tends to carry pretty good quality stuff in general.
I also tasted the Milky at DavidsTea and I have to say, the taste is clearly fake and definitely shouldn’t be re-steeped again. That’s what you get with larger companies these days, trying to keep cost of tea low. If you want to try a pretty good one, go check out Asiatica also in Montreal. It’s a asian themed store, furniture and tea products. I like their milky oolong very much, great scent, great taste. I didn’t try re-steeping it though as I only tasted it in the store.

I’ve had Stash products before and I thought they were good even though the ones I had were bagged teas. I haven’t ordered online, but I have heard good things about their customer service.
