Elephant Tea Caddies

Just discovered these interestingly shaped and colorful tea caddies from Willamson Tea. It’s first time I’ve ever ordered tea based on the packaging! Can’t wait till it arrives from over the pond and see if the tea is as good as the the caddies it comes in.

OMG!!!
What to do~ What to do…lol…
I have loved elephants dearly since my first elephant ride at the age of five.
Anyone remember a pantyhose commercial from approx 25-30yrs ago
that compared worn out hosiery to “elephant legs” ? …lol…

I once worked for a boss who made the mistake of telling people he loved elephants. One day while in his private, inner office, I saw literally dozens and dozens of elephant figurines, pottery, dolls, illustrations and pictures. When I asked he sighed and said that having once let it be known, since then everyone gives him elephant gifts for his birthday, Christmas, business gifts even greeting cards. It was just so convenient for them and they all thought they were doing something special and unique.

LOL…funny story…I would love to have THAT problem. I once had a very nice collection of elephants, but lost the entirety of the collection to a home fire :-(
Those are all such lovely tea caddies. Can you imagine that boss being a tea aficionado and all those people buying you elephant caddies filled with tea… What a fabulous dream :-)

I have seen these in Canada at Winners/Homesense. They are cute.

Lala,
I am so jealous ;-)
lol…I would probably end up purchasing one of those weekly
if I lived close to a shop with those…

How much are they?!?! If I send you money through PayPal would you pick up a few for me? We can do a swap too so it not just the tins and you get something in return?

Lala said

I can’t quite remember how much they got but it was reasonable becuase I considered buying one but I did not care for the tea it came with. I will go back and check the cost and to see if they are still there, it won’t be until next week though. Shipping may be just as expensive from Canada as it is from the UK but I will look into that. I will let you know next week.

Yeah…I’ve seen them in winners as well, though I haven’t been back in a while.

Yay thank you. I can’t wait to hear back :)

There were a few at my Winners when I was there today. I think they were 16.99…….

They are $14.99 CA where I am from, for the medium (?). On just a basic guess of weight and dimensions, it will cost a minimum of $20 CA to send to the US. You might be better off trying to find one in the US.

Well if you’re in the US, it’s $40 shipping. An excellent deterrent, I dare say.

CelebriTEA said

Ugghhh…that just shattered my “high”…
Been looking at the site off and on tonight while sitting
with the GrandAngels .

Sorry, that deterrent won’t completely work. I bought two large tins and paid only $22 for shipping. And no tax.

I am in love! $40 for shipping, I can’t do that :(

I just looked again and shipping was $20.

CelebriTEA said

Ok, back to browsing for me…
I may have to order myself one for Christmas and start collecting again :-)

Kaylee said

Nope, it’s 19.15 pounds. Per google, that’s $30.73 (so yeah my math was sloppy earlier and the exchange rate is better than I thought).

As I said above, I bought two tins and only paid $22 for shipping. Plus (or minus?) no tax.

Yikes, but Amazon wants $25 for the tins. Williamson charged $9.50 and 6.75, So even with my Amazon Prime free shipping, I would have paid more. Plus ca change, plus le meme chose.

Any way you look at it, buying these solely for the tins is either a bit or quite a bit extravagant. Since I only discovered them by chance from someone recommending the tea, I’m hoping the tea will change the equation somewhat.

Let us know how the tea is :)

I got my elephant caddies today. I ordered a total of 6 – 3 for gifts, 2 for me, and 1 that may be a gift or I may keep. They’re a bit smaller than I expected, which is fine, and the caddy itself is actually a nice texture and the artwork is great. I got the jungle one, and the snowflake one (that benefits Walking with the Wounded) and the Autumn Leaves.

Adding in the shipping, they weren’t cheap, but I know they’ll be a big hit with the gift recipients, and I love seeing mine in my tea cabinet. Plus they sent 2 packages, each with 16 tea bags, as a bonus.

So so so jealous. :(

@Katiek, I’m still waiting for mine to be delivered, no mail to day, due to Veterans’ Day. Did you get the medium sized tins with 20 bags or the large with 40 bags?

Katiek said

I got mine even on Veteran’s Day, they must have used UPS or something. Mine were some of the “limited edition” designs, and I think they only come in the 40. http://www.williamsontea.com/our-farm-shop/elephant-caddies/limited-edition (Mine were Jungle, Snowflake and Autumn Leaves). Also, when I ordered they said they needed a signature for delivery, but I put “please do not require signature” in the comments section, and that was on the box when it was delivered (with no signature requirement).

Those are soooo AWESOME.

I see them also on teadog.com ($20 + $7 shipping US), also britishdelights.com ($19 +variable shipping US +2.50 handling but handling is waived if you buy 2).

Update: The teadog.com price is on sale. Normally $25 same as Amazon.

Interestingly, the teadog site says the English Breakfast is a blend of tea from Assam and Kenya, while the Williamson site says. " All of our teas are grown on our own farms in Kenya, which means we can control the quality of the product all the way from the tea plant to the cup."

I’ve seen these at TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshall’s. :)

Really? I went yesterday to tjmaxx and nothing:( how much were they where u r at???!!!!

Nicole said

Time to check out TJ Maxx!

moraiwe said

Between 13-15 if I rememeber right. And I’m pretty sure it was only the English Breakfast ones.

Oh man:):) what did the elephant look like because there are about 4 or 5 different English breakfast ones:)

I don’t know if you are getting the ones we have up here, but mostly we are getting the autumn leaves, London Skyline and Jubilee EB, I’ve also seen the duchess grey and the Quiet afternoon ones as well as the Jungle EG. I’m not sure if one of the Traditional afternoon has shown up. I’ve mostly just seen the boxes of tea bags. We seem to be getting similar stock.
