Elephant Tea Caddies

Yay! My tea came today! And…they sent 16 bag samples of two other teas as well. Very generous and impressive.

The caddies are even more attractive in person. There are two different sizes, and both are colorful, matte designs with the outline of the larger elephant (if there are two) embossed on the can. The 20 bag size is about an inch shorter and less wide.

According to the information on the tins and the sample bags, all the tea is from their own Kenyan farms and one pound from each Limited Edition caddy sold goes to AMREF, an African Health charity. So now I feel even happier about the purchase.

I have not tried the tea yet, but OMG… the tins are adorable! I got them today from Teadog. I have smelled them though. I got Earl Grey, Duchess Grey and English Breakfast. There is some bergamot smell in there, that’s for sure. :)

And I will say that Teadog was easy to deal with and had good customer service. They weren’t able to ship on the day they said they would so they offered, unprompted, to refund my shipping and ship out Fed Ex Ground instead of USPS. They also offered the option to cancel the order completely if not getting it when planned was unacceptable. They will stay on my bookmarks list. :)

awesome!

Yes, the bergamot scent was intense when I opened the bag of Earl Grey. But fortunately, the flavor wasn’t anything like that. I don’t usually drink bagged or flavored tea, but I enjoyed this one (with a dash of soy milk and sweetener) and have brought it (sans elephant tin!) to my office for emergency cups of afternoon tea when I can’t use a tea pot to brew loose.
