Travelling Tea Box - The Great Canadian Edition (Round 2: December 2013) SIGN UPS CLOSED
Soooo apparently this is in post office Jail, so it may be in my hands as early as tonight :)
yeah it’s here.. lol my other half picked it up for me on his way home. :)
The box is going to stall just a wee bit now though, because even if i can get this sucker turned around in 2 days…it will have to wait on Variatea sooooo hopefully no one is upset by that. I’d almost rather keep it here while i’m on vacation so that i know it’s not going to go missing at her end while she’s away.
That being said, i COULD send it to someone else, but i know there are ppl who wanted to go after Variatea, so i think? we’re better off not messing about the order again…unless there’s an objection to that?
I am fine with either way. If it stalls for a bit to keep it in the same order, or if someone volunteers to go in between you two. Whatever works for the group.
I am sorry!! I feel like I have been a thorn in this tea box’s side. I figure that it is probably best for Sil to keep the box so she gets time with it rather than rushing to send it to me (as it won’t arrive prior to me leaving on Wednesday). If she sends the box when she returns, it will probably get here for when I get back from my vacation on March 11 and then I can send it out within a day or two. That would actually still be pretty close to the schedule of one week per person. Either that or Sil sends it someone else in between us.
Hey everyone, while the box is just on a little hiatus, I wanted to get some feedback from you all.
I was thinking about tweaking the rules a little bit. This was in no way a result of anything that has happened, I have just been thinking about things.
1. To add a rule that new participants should have some history of activity on steepster.
2. As this round seems to have generated quite a bit of interest, that we remove the sending international option. However, as Jewelled Thumb is our honourary Canadian participant she will have dibs on next round just like the rest of us.
What do you think?
Does anyone else have anything they would like to discuss or suggestions for changes?
I think this round has been going really well so far.
I think we had a really successful first round and the second round also seems to be moving along really well.
Ultimately it’s YOUR box so you can set the rules however you like.
In general, I think it depends on amount of interest. If you want to keep the number of participants to around 10 then first dibs should be on those who participated in the last round, then to Canadians, then to those who have some history/activity on Steepster.
So yes, I’m pretty much agreeing with what you are saying. If you have more people wanting to participate than slots available, I would use the above criteria to narrow down the participants.
I would like to participate again, I would like to be further down the list next time – but that obviously depends on geographical logistics, and others schedules. :))
I’d also like to be considered for the next round, though I know I’ll have to move further back in the queue. I’m in Toronto.
Christina. Just keep a watch on the threads. When we start a new round 3, I will ask for sign ups depending on how many spots are available. It will be another 1-2 months before I anticipate the box being back to me and ready to start for round 3. You can sign up then.
Dex. What are your thoughts on the 10 person limit? Do you think we should open it up to a larger group?
Hey everyone ! I really love being part of the travelling tea box and would be honored to be included in the 3rd round. Its just awesome to share teas with other tea people.
I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity as well. It was great fun to get the box and see all the different teas available!
I’m with Dexter, your box, your rules. My one concern would be with international shipping costs and how that might effect things. But even at that, if there is the option to be flexible with the list order then I don’t see it as a huge concern.
Lala – You asked about the 10 person limit. I like a smaller group for all the reasons listed in the current “rules” – quicker turn around, not letting the weight of the box get out of control etc.
I’m not opposed to opening it up a little bit. I think 20 is too many, but if you had 12-14 “qualified” (whatever you decided that means) applicants and to keep anyone from being excluded, I wouldn’t be against including a few more.
i like the smaller groups – under 15, means it still gets around within a reasonable amount of time without too many delays. That being said, I’d be open to having two boxes go around at the same time as well, perhaps going around different ways shrug over all, i’ll play by whatever rules the person organising it wants since they’re taking the time and effort to pull it together :) If i was really opposed to anything, i’d pass on joining or start my own box. so far though, it’s bee awesome!! Love it!
Ugh. I’m feeling terrible as there have been major hicuups with this on my part, which isn’t normal. Flight cancellations means i haven’t had a second to do much of anything today with the box. I’ll still try and get it out before the weekend though as best as i can.
On that note, anyone coming up behind me, please let me know if there’s anything you want from my cupboard so that i can get that in so long as there is room :)
I am sorry to hear about your bad day. And don’t feel bad as the delay is by no means your fault. Even if you sent it before you left, I would not have been there to receive it. It is a week until I am home so no rush.

Hey guys. So on my trip, I dropped in at Nina’s Paris and they gave me a bunch of generous sized samples to try/share. I will be sharing some in swaps but I was wondering if you all would like to try them. I was thinking, if people were interested/didn’t mind, I would add the samples to the box in addition to my local teas to get the teas out there. This will probably increase the weight though so I completely understand if you guys would prefer I didn’t. Let me know your thoughts!
If you want, I can provide a list of the samples they gave me and you guys can choose the ones, if any, you want to try.
Personally, I would love to try the samples and be willing to deal with a heavier box, but I am okay too if others would like the box weight to remain consistent. Thanks for the offer!

no worries, it actually works out perfectly timing-wise . im moving out this weekend to go back home:) Cannot wait for a lovely tea box _. It will be well deserved from all my hard work this past week . hmmm im feeling oolongs and greens. what tea companies do you have ? any good local quebec ones? and of course im good with the nina’s :)
I have teas from Camellia Sinensis and CaesarsTea which are local. I am not a oolong lover so there probably won’t be a lot of those from me but I can add greens for sure :)
I need your address btw and I was planning on sending the box out either tomorrow or the next day. I am almost through all the teas. It has been like a teatime power hour here :P
