What kind of milk/cream do you put in your tea?

only teas I take with milk are London fog (earl grey latte) and chai.

I don’t take cow milk (ever) but use soy, or rice milk.

When I use milk in tea, I usually brew it strong, and use about 4 oz water, and 4 oz milk. I’ve also used evaporated milk and half and half, but I use a lot less of those. I’ve heard you can make your own creamer by mixing evaporated milk, half and half or cream, a sweetener, and whatever extract or flavoring you want to add, but I haven’t tried that yet.

I love milk paired with the right kind of tea, and I tend to drink just as much with milk as without. Since I often drink dessert flavored black teas, milk adds so much richness to the tea, making it almost a dessert substitute. Whole milk is my favorite, although I’ll use two percent or even one percent milk if that’s all that’s available – the wateriness doesn’t bother me too much (that said, I draw the line at skim). Half and half is wonderful for the caramel and vanilla tea flavors, but I consider that a real indulgence! I’ve used soy milk and really like the creaminess and flavor it gives, but I don’t like the strange aftertaste that almond milk has. For me, almond milk is only good for smoothies. Never tried coconut milk, although I really should as I usually have it in the fridge.

My sister recently introduced me to oat milk, and even though I initially scoffed at her, it’s surprisingly good when paired with chai. I’m thinking of Mountain Rose Herbs’ Firefly chai in particular (oh look, a rooibos base I don’t hate), but I doubt it’d be too far off base to say that it would work equally well with others.

That sounds lovely! I love oats in all things. :D

oat milk is awesome!! nutrient-rich and very, very sweet naturally! it’s delicious and filling.

if i’m starving and don’t have time to eat, an 8 oz. cup is a nice pick-me-up :)

i try to steer clear of dairy milk for a bunch of reasons. i love soy (especially Silk) as it has a delicious flavor. i like their plain even better than their vanilla! (although that’s good too, don’t get me wrong.)

i’ll also use coconut, almond and oat milk. Oat milk (by Pacific) is delicious, filling and sweet! so good on its own, i almost don’t want to put it in tea lol….

Almond Breeze makes a bunch of great almond milks & milk mixtures (like Almond-Coconut & Almond-Coconut-Chia). their plain is good and i am recently loving their vanilla-flavored ‘Hint of Honey’ Almond (that’s the full name)—that or Coconut is my milk of choice for making stovetop chai.

I keep seeing oat milk on the shelf but haven’t had the nerve to try it – i tend to just stick with my ol’ almond milk. Now I am going to have to give it a go!
