Sending a tea gift to the UK

I’d like to send a gift of tea to a friend in England. I’d prefer to just order it online and have the company ship directly to my friend.

But I want to make sure that I can pay all the shipping fees and that she won’t get charged any customs or other fees. I don’t want to send her a gift that ends up costing her money!

Does anyone have any experience sending tea to the UK from the US? If not, I could order directly from an English company, but I wanted to send her some new teas that she hasn’t tried before.

I have sent swaps to the UK before (from Canada) and not had any problems with the recipient having to pay fees (that I know of anyway). You could check into the companies that are sending the teas, some companies with include duty fees in their shipping fees, some do not.
