Question about bold-flavored rose tea

The strongest rose tea I’ve ever had hasn’t yet been mentioned here – St. Valentine by Czar Nikolas II (http://steepster.com/teas/czar-nikolas-ii/4602-premium-st-valentine-tea). I don’t actually tend to enjoy strong rose scents, but I like this one! As a bonus it’s crazy cheap, I got some at an Armenian market for about seven bucks for 250 grams.

For lower caffeine options, Kusmi has an excellent rose green tea! And it comes in a pretty pink tin. :)

Okay, I wanted to report that I received my first sample today: Golden Moon Tea Rose. It is certainly a black tea, but I don’t sense rose. My sample doesn’t even contain rose petals although the website says differently. Incidentally, I had breakfast earlier today at my the tea place here, and I had their rose tea. I know when I smell roses! Unfortunately, the Golden Moon Rose is not going to work for me….

Really sorry to hear that as I’m the one who mentioned it. I’ve got a sample of it lying around somewhere, haven’t tried it myself yet. I do stand by the recs I mentioned I’ve tried (Champagne and Rose Cream is my favorite rose tea right now…also a fan of how rosy the Fauchon flavored black blends I’ve tried are, but they contain many other elements as well so might not be what you’re looking for…very heady though). Samovar’s Persian Black is very rosy floral, but for whatever reason I personally didn’t fall in love with it like I did the Fauchons or Butiki.

No worries! Having read the many reviews of this one, I was a bit surprised. I was even wondering if they sent me a different sample. I’ll order more samples, and I’ll make sure I include Champagne and Rose Cream.

I agree with Sara, the strongest rose tea I’ve had is St. Valentine.
The only problem I have with it is that it contains artificial flavors.

I occasionally enjoy “meditative mind” from the Teaspot. It’s a beautiful tea, full of rosebuds & petals, but not necessarily strong.

Teavivre’s Rose Dian Hong is lovely, nicely balanced, definitely Rosy.
Uptons Rose Congou is not bad.

Frontier Herbs sells dried roses, & the last time I bought them, they were amazingly potent. Occasionally I’ll just drop a few of them into a cup of whatever I’m drinking.

I just discovered Simple Loose Tea’s African Rose Herbal which blends roses, Honeybush and Rooibos and it is crazy intense with roses…it is like someone poured rosewater in with rooibos and honeybush. Delicious! http://www.simplelooseleaf.com/products/african-rose-herbal-by-the-oz

Thank you, Sara, Terri, and Amanda! I’d never had a Rooibos tea before today, but I am beginning to like it.

I have to thank Mahamosa for sending me a complimentary sample of Rooibos Rose, which I am trying today. Mmm, it is so delicious! The rose is definitely there, and so is the vanilla, which adds a touch of sweetness to the whole. It feels scrumptiously creamy. I stepped out of the room for a while, and when I came back I felt the air was subtly perfumed with the aroma of the tea. I love it! I only wonder if it has any artificial flavors. Does anyone know?

I’m looking forward to trying Mahamosa’s Sweet Dreams now, perhaps tonight because I have errands in the afternoon :)

I’ll certainly try the African Rose Herbal Rooibos tea. I’m so excited about discovering this community of rose tea enthusiasts!

I recall that rose tea from Golden Moon is a strongly flavored one.

I have also tried these:
English Rose by Davids tea
Rose Scented by Harney & Sons
Summer Rose by Adagio teas

I have to say I prefer Adagio’s version. The rose flavor is not too overwhelming, it’s not too oily and it also has a lovely lemony undertone that reminds me of a Hybrid Tea Rose.
My least favorite was Rose Scented by Harney & Sons which was quite surprising because their flavored teas are usually great. Just did not care for this particular one.

Try this, I remembered your post and then accidentally found this:

http://www.teasenz.com/rose-flower-tea#.Usn1k2RDvWQ

give that a shot, if you don’t like the floweryness by itself, then add a type of tea you know you like

My favorite rose tea is Rose Congou from Upton which is very reasonably priced and available in sample sizes.
