Can't login with browsers' saved info ...
Anyone else still having this problem?
I wrote about it in the ‘Bug Reports for Sunday 7/21 Update’ thread about five months ago – but that’s now locked – and was told it was on the list to be fixed.
Problem is, I find having to type in my name and password every time such an irritation that I rarely visit the site these days.
I use Chrome or Firefox, by the way – problem’s on both.
This has been an issue since that big update and I don’t see it changing soon. I just click remember me (or the equivalent) and then only have to log in again once every few weeks or so. Annoying, but not enough to keep me away. :)
Is it maybe something to do with the settings. Is the browser set up to “never remember” passwords, etc.
That box has been clicked for me, and I still gotta log in everytime I turn off my computer…(I have a bad habit of leaving my computer on, because it’s getting alittle laggy and starting it up can take sometime.)
I use mostly Chrome.
I have never had that problem, unless I clear my web history/cache. I use internet explorer, and the web browsers on my ipad and black berry phone.
Maybe it is just with Chrome and Firefox then as those are what I use as well. Every once in a while I am logged out (without clearing my cache) but my info remains filled in. If I just click sign in, it says my info isn’t there. It feels weird to type in what I already see there but it’s not a big problem.
I also use Chrome and have yet to have this specific issue, unless I’ve cleared my cache… then LastPass fills everything out for me anyway.
Hah, I totally thought I wasn’t alone in this one!
No, it’s nothing to do with my settings, it happens on my phone, 2 work computers, my home computers as well. Different browsers. It must be related to my account for some reason? Ah well.
EDIT: Hubby who works in IT says it is because Chrome is syncing my cache through all those computers because I log in to my gmail. Thanks Chrome. Or not.
I’ve just discovered that the saved login will work on IE9 – which I don’t use! I can’t really remember if it worked for me back after the big update, I don’t seem to have written about it anywhere.
There’s a difference. When I click on Steepster in FF or Chrome, the site comes up with the login details already filled in. On IE9 – oops, I’ve just checked and I’m actually using IE11 – didn’t even know I had that! Anyway, on Explorer whichever, Steepster comes up with the login boxes blank; I type the first ‘a’ in my name; it suggests ‘alaudacorax’; I click that and both boxes are filled-in and, when I click, I’m logged in properly.
So it seems that Steepster needs to see the boxes being filled in and won’t accept them ready-filled-in, but I’m no nearer to knowing why, or how to get around it.
On the other hand, having this new version of IE, I may go back to it. Of course, now I have to try to remember the problems that drove me away and see if they’ve gone. Computers are so damned time-consuming!
Of course, part of the problem may be my incipient paranoia. I’m probably overly security-conscious, but I never leave any website logged-in.
Okay, now things are getting seriously weird.
I’ve just found that on both FireFox and Chrome I can login automatically by clearing both boxes then typing the first ‘a’, clicking on the prompted ‘alaudacorax’, and so on, as I said for IE11.
Now, I definitely couldn’t do that before yesterday, though it was probably some weeks before yesterday when I last visited – I’ve been dropping in every few weeks and having a play around with it to see if anything’s changed – but I can’t, for the life of me, remember if I tried that yesterday.
Hah! Just to make it interesting – on Chrome, when I clear the username box, the password box goes blank too – but I still have to ‘clear’ it before I can get things to work. So I have to click on a blank space and hit the backspace button!
I haven’t been having those issues (I use Chrome on my desktop and netbook, but Safari if I’m borrowing hubby’s ipad), but I have been having difficulty with messages and notices. Sometimes the notices won’t show on one machine or another. Lately messages haven’t been loading for me on my netbook and if I try on the Ipad it crashes the browser. SO I have to use the desktop to check messages which is irritating, but I guess at least I can view them somewhere. Bugs. I love the ones in nature, hate the one in electronics.
