Green Chai, Rooibos Chai

Hi all,

I just opened up an Adagio chai sampler and it has, in addition to several black tea based blends, a green chai and a rooibos chai.

I generally make chai from the recipe someone here posted many moons ago, on the stovetop with additional black tea, milk, sweetener etc. But when I think about doing that with these, it seems a weird prospect. Any suggestions on how to prepare these? Should I just treat them as a tea and an herbal blend and steep accordingly?

Thanks!

Rooibos can be steeped pretty much like a black tea, or even longer. I usually steep mine for 5 minutes at boiling. I think it would work fine for the stovetop chai method too.

For the green, I would steep it at a lower temperature, for maybe 2-3 minutes.

Thanks! I was thinking about what it would take to follow the “recipe” i.e., additional rooibos and additional green tea, and the thought of milk with green tea struck me as rather gross. So I figured I would skip the recipe for that one and just drink it like regular green, probably steeping about 1.5 minutes at the max. The rooibos on the other hand I could see doing a milk thing with. Ah well, I will probably try steeping it like any other rooibos first and then decide whether to venture the stovetop method.
