Wow thank you all so much. I sign back in this morning to be greeted with all of this incredible information.

As far as background information goes, I’m living in a house with plenty of room for gizmos and gadgets. And (unfortunately) tend to go all out on things like this. So all of this information about getting in to it slowly is very helpful. I can hear my wallet screaming a little less.

I’ve jotted down notes on all of this information and it looks like I will begin compiling a shopping list and sort it off of priority. Once I have finished that I will post that list back up here. Feel free to criticize it as I want to make sure I am not overlooking anything.

Hopefully anyone else looking for the same information will be able to benefit from the list that you all have helped me compile as well.

Again thank you all for your help.

Great!

For what it’s worth, I agree with those who say all you really need is a pot and a mug and a strainer at the most basic. But for me, having something that is obviously related to a new interest makes it more fun.

I had a kettle before I got into tea. It’s one of those things that if you’ve had a wedding or cleaned out a parent’s house you usually have. ;-) And of course I had mugs. But it was fun to buy a few things to feel like I had some things dedicated to tea. I think the point is you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to get started (and you probably shouldn’t until you know you are going to really get into tea). But if you’re like me, having a few (on the cheap side) basic instruments to start out makes it more fun.
