Please help - Newbie in tea business looking for certain blend of tea!

Hello tea lovers, I became interested in tea few months ago when my friend introduced me to drinking tea for losing few pounds. I tried few different kinds from different companies and these all tasted pretty gross without much flavour. I paid a lot of money for them too! Mostly found them on etsy and reading this forum taught me most of them are buying wholesale.

So thought I would buy my own for cheaper price so I can give them to my girlfriends and aunts. I want to buy them wholesale to save costs but have had no luck. I will list ingredients that I’m looking for (can be similar but not exact) but nobody sells them. I contacted metrotea, teavendor, upton, herbco, etc and they do not have similar blends.

Another problem I am facing is that even though I order big bulk, I am having issue having the companies package them into smaller bags for me. It would be nice if I could have them packaged into 30 grams or such. I guess I could always order like 1-2 pounds and then transfer them myself but I was advised not to do this by some tea companies.

Any of you buy big bulk from companies at wholesale prices and re-package them into smaller bags yourselves? And what materials do you use to do this? I found some smaller tea packages on ebay but they seem to require some kind of huge heating machine to seal them but I don’t have anything like that.

Please help guys. I seriously emailed over 10 companies and only 2-3 have replied back to me, they cannot help me either. Where to start? Thank you guys!!!

BTW – below are the ingredients I am copying & pasting from some etsy sellers are selling for their tea that I am looking for similarly.

Hi there,

If you’re just getting started and have disliked the first few teas you’ve tried, I really don’t think it’s a good idea to go the wholesale route. I’m worried that you may buy a big batch of something, decide you don’t like it, and then be stuck with a whole bunch of tea leaves you won’t brew.

Also, the quantities you’re talking about are quite large, especially if you’re thinking of buying pounds of tea. 30 grams of loose-leaf is easily enough for several cups of tea, especially if you steep each serving multiple times.

Hi Christina, thanks for your reply. I plan on getting a sample before ordering a pound or few. I have at least over 10 people who are interested in this kind of tea so thought I could charge them a small amount of money to see how it goes. If things go well, I would like to sell locally.

Anybody know a good wholesale company that will re-package things into small increments and will work with a person like me just starting out? I will greatly appreciate it. Or maybe you guys have better ideas on how I can transfer the tea myself without making a huge mess?

Thank you!

I buy wholesale and have not seen anything like the blends you have indicated. I also mostly look for unblended items as I blend all the devotea USA teas myself from single ingredients. Please note all wholesalers I deal with require me to spend 200$ or more not including shipping and do not repack into smaller containers. I have a heat sealer which cost me 90$ and package my teas into mylar bags.

You should try ShantiTea, they do wholesale also, and definitely have several of the teas/herbs you’ve listed. That is quite the extensive list though.
