Im wondering if I'm drinking too much green tea?

I just went through a 4 ounce tin of Peets Sencha in 6 days.I tried second infusions but didnt like the loss of the green taste. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.Maybe I’ll get a thermometer or an electric hot water pitcher to get more accurate temps.
All evening long I’m sipping.I make it a bit strong (relativly).I could make it a bit weaker to stretch it out. I’d like to make it to 8 ounces a month.

Must be pretty good if you’re drinking it that fast! For the second infusion, try very hot water and let it sit a bit longer. The longer it sits, the stronger the taste, but it also might get more bitter.

I Agree with Green Tea Guide… lol, that just sounds obvious:) The longer most greens sit, the more bitter they become. I’ve personally noticed, if you don’t mind the green tea flavor of a grassy type flavor…let it silt too long and your drinking a freshly mowed lawn.

I can shed a light on the “Drinking too much” part of your question.

Green tea contains four powerful flavonoid polyphenol compounds – EC, ECG, EGC, EGCG – these are the anti oxidant components. EGCG is 100 times more potent than Vitamin C and 25 times more potent than Vitamin E. One 6 oz/170 ml cup of green tea contains approx 235 mg of flavonoid catechins, compared to an apple that has only 178 mg. This is why green tea is considered healthy and reportedly fights against most ills. No one agrees on exactly how much is needed to be consumed per day to reach the full benefit of the aforementioned flavonoids but it is considered to be at least 5 cups.

I don’t know what parameters peers gives. for sencha but classic Japanese parameters might. help. try 2 grams leaf 3 oz water at 180f for 1 to 2 minutes
a second steeping will be boiling water for 30 seconds. delish!
