Which teas do you WISH you had ridicioulous amounts of (or plan to have ridciulous amounts of)?

(Raises Hand) “I am Mz. Priss and I am a tea hoarder.” In my other thread, I discussed teas I have gone all Silas Marner on. There are only three in that list – but it could be sooo much longer. Here are some teas I have, but I don’t have nearly enough of and I WANT MORE (so much more) because I will be sad when I run out of them:

Black Beauty – Mandala
Golden Strand Mandala
Noble Mark Ripe Pu-er
Laoshan Black – Verdant
BergamontRose Laoshan Black – Verdant

What do y’all want lots of?

because we always want the one we can’t have, i’d stock up on a couple that have haunted me and are no longer available and probably won’t ever be again:

Verdant’s Shui Jin Gui Wuyi Oolong
thepuriTea’s Hong Jing Luo

and probably thepuriTea’s red dragon pearls. i’ve become sort of fixatated on the notion of using pearls as a portable solution to tea bags, and those were my favorite ones. it’s becoming increasingly impossible to find any anywhere anymore, apparently due to labor costs (last i checked Teavivre still carries some but Mandala’s had trouble sourcing them and most others called pearls aren’t actually big tight balls but a zillion loose coils, which doesn’t suit my to-go purposes…and i don’t like jasmine, which is what many that are still available are scented with).

in the winter months, i want my favorite breakfast teas in vast amounts, so i’d stock up on queen catherine, the black lotus, morning sun, and golden moon’s irish breakfast. yum.

and when verdant’s golden needle went back in stock months ago, i had missed it so much i bought a very indulgent amount of it and have had no regrets! i also bought two tins of andrews and dunham’s yunnan gold tips, because when the first one came i loved it so much and knew it was limited edition. that’s served me well too.

oh, and i just bought a ton of special dark as well as a phatty cake and the loose lincang it’s made of. happy happy. i’m still such a pu erh newb, but i love those teas so much.

in the summer months i try to have a neverending supply of verdant’s laoshan bilochun green and later, their autumn laoshan green. and harney’s gyokuro and tencha. i don’t drink straight greens much in the winter, but i adore them coldsteeped all summer long (drink them like water!) and then in the early fall hot all the time too.

just realized there’s not really anything flavored here…which reminds me, i would buy (and did, once!) all of Stacy’s stock of the original herbal birthday cake if i could. for “it’s 11pm but i want something tasty to drink” it’s my go-to no brainer.

i have to admit i rather like reaching the stage with tea where i’m not so much in “TRY EVARTHUN ALL THE TEAS YES” mode but know what i like and am doing more occasional “time to stock up” orders. i was a sampling champ (and so glad i listened to Sil about only getting sample sizes in the beginning!) but it gets daunting after a while. it’s great to know by now i love a certain tea and look forward to keeping it around like a friend.

Were you wanting only red dragon pearls or just dragon pearls in general? Because I know Adagio & Tazo both have black dragon pearls which are pretty large. I personally really like the Adagio ones over the Tazo, but not ever having thepuriTea’s pearls, I wouldn’t know how those compare.

Black Lotus and Queen Catherine look like things that need to be in my immediate future. I’m still trying everything so I really like hearing about teas that sound good to me

Shadowfall, i could be mistaken (it’s hard to know now that thepuriTea’s gone and with it its website) but i’ve always assumed they were called red to mean black tea, as in what is commonly called red tea in china is what we refer to as black tea, so synonymous with stuff like mandala’s black pearls. definitely a bit different in specific flavors, but both still black teas.

i will have to check out the adagio pearls sometime! thank you for the heads up.

MzPriss, i love both a lot, but black lotus can get to be an expensive staple (so worth it in winter though!). queen catherine is, like most harney breakfast blends, quite affordable, which is nice.

ifjuly – I have a Golden Fleece problem so I understand expensive staples. But I’m about to order some Black Lotus cause that sounds really good!

And I also just placed my first Butiki order.

Oh I wanted those Mandala balls but I see they are gone. I got a tin of the Teavivre balls – they came this week and they are not my favorite so I would be up for some swapping, etc if that interests you.

that’s so nice of you to offer! yeah, i’ve tried teavivre’s and while i don’t dislike them, i don’t like them nearly as much as either thepuriTea’s or mandala’s. alas.

i’d totally be up for swapping sometime in general with you though! i’m sort of taking an unofficial break from it for now—too scatterbrained currently to feel i’d be responsible enough to do it in a timely and well thought out manner—but it’s so much fun. perhaps in a few weeks i’ll be ready to start swapping again.

MzPriss said

Yeah I thought I would love those Teavivre balls but I just didn’t. I don’t DISlike them, they just don’t send me so I get it. And sure just hit me up whenever for swaps.

Lupicia samples………

I thought I was approaching the point that ifjuly was talking about – not having to try everything anymore, narrowed it down to what I like and don’t like, have some favorites to restock. Apparently not – I’m on the Lupicia site acting like a kid in a candy shop – I want everything.
Nope I’m not there yet, I don’t want quantities of anything – I’m not there yet. :((

MzPriss said

I’m not there yet either and I thought I was close.

there are definitely still moments i get excited about stuff i’ve never tried! but i’m beginning to feel more established staple-wise, and it feels good.

Proud of you ifjuly – I still have more than 100 teas in my house that I haven’t tried (and yes I’m placing more orders….I have a problem) – I’m having a hard time “committing” to staples. I keep thinking I might find a better one… Oh well, it’s not as out of control as it was 6 months ago – I have gotten a little bit better, and I’m having fun!!!

The only thing I need a bunch of is With Open Eyes by Butiki…. I love it so much it’s the only tea I haven’t gotten bored of!! I have a million teas and it seems like I can never finish any of them bc I get bored of them before I can get done with them, unless I’m just using the whole package to make iced tea. There are also some other Butiki teas I’m quite fond of… There is also one called The Silk Dragon by The Tea Merchant that I got in a swap that I love, so that might be another one. I’m still in the stage where I want to try all the teas too, so I’m with Dexter in that one haha

There are so many, since most of my teas are samples sizes anyway, but some I’d want ten pounds of:
SPECIALTEASEARL GREY CREME
sTEAp Shoppe – Cinnamon Swirl Bread
Della Terra – Peppermint Bark (which I just happen to be drinking right now)
……

When I had both Pistachio Ice Cream and Potatoes & Applesauce by Butiki, I immediately wished I had bought more.

When I am tired of trying new teas or I want a good cup of comfort tea I reach for my Earl Grey Green from Tealux (It took me ages to find a good Earl Grey Green) or a good Jasmine green. Still…I have so many teas in my cupboard , I can’t super stock on either of those teas because it will just take me forever to get through it all.

I would be more than happy to even just own a pound of the TARDIS blend from Adagio Tea, and Russian Earl Grey from Culinary Teas. They are definitely my two favorites so far! I wouldn’t want more than a pound at a time because i wouldn’t want to ruin my faves by drinking them in exorbitant amounts! By i would love to have a never ending supply of them:)

I bought Apple Cardamom Rooibos from 52 Teas and regretted not ordering more. I adore the stuff. That and the Vanilla Rooibos from the Bulk Barn are my favourite rooibos teas of all.
