+'HERE'S HOPING' teabox ROUND THREE - signups closed! USA only

I would be interested in participating again. I’ve been in round 1 and 2, so if you get a lot of people who want to take part I’d be happy to sit this round out.

I’m in New Jersey.

No, participating in rounds 1 & 2 mean I know you’re reliable. :D

I am interested, but I am already participating in the Butiki TTB so if you get a long list and need folks to sit out, I am your gal. I am in Kansas City.

I’m in one of the Butiki teaboxes too, so I won’t mind if you’re also signed up for this one. :D

I’m interested in going again, but was in the last round. So if you get a lot of feedback, I’d be more than willing to sit out. I’m in WI

Surprise! Signups are over! Sorry to everyone late to the party. I just went with the ten people that signed up so far. Usually I like to be selective, but since I went with everyone, I’m putting some “hope” in the couple of Steepsterer newbies and not just the postal system. :D You seem like reliable, already devoted to Steepster newbies though! So I even have the shipping order up. Please let me know if anyone wants any changes. Please make sure you are following me, and at least two people above and below you in the shipping order.

The teabox will probably arrive tomorrow, so it will probably take a break for a couple weeks so I can taste some teas, write up the final list of teas that were in the box (which will go in the thread for the second round), pick some teas to add to the box, and get a chance to get to the post office! thanks everyone!

Very excited to participate in this round. Thanks for taking a chance on us newbies! We wont let you down!

Is the order based on proximity at all? I live on the IN line (literally about 3 miles from IN).

Marzipan – the list is sort of based on proximity by state. As in, I tried to make it travel from East to West back to the East. To spread shipping costs a little bit, so no one had to ship from one coast to another.

Wow! That was quick. :) I’m glad I signed up again. This ttb is a fun one.

YAY!!! Thanks for taking a chance on a Newbie! I won’t let you guys down!!!

I am out of town for a work trip and a vacation from June 1-13. So I don’t know if you want to put me lower on the list. I don’t mind paying shipping charges, so if I need to, I can ship to anyone on the list :)

Uh oh. I’ll have to switch you then.

Adding you after CelebriTEA in Indiana might still be too soon for June 13. So if I’m trying to make it travel from East-West-East, I’m going to have to add you to the end. Even if I ended up mailing it around May 14, I wouldn’t want you to have to worry about this two weeks before your trip.

Ok sounds good! Sorry to throw a wrench in the order!

Not a problem!

I’m trying to send JeweledThumb a message about an address, but you aren’t following me yet, so I can’t. Please send me your address though the messaging. I think I’m following everyone that signed up…

Sorry about that. Will send you a message in a bit. Just got home from work!

The teabox has arrived! There are a billion teas here I’d like to try! It will probably not be this Wednesday that is mailed out but the Wednesday after. There only seems to be a few teas that I have seen before, and since they are in thin baggies anyway, they will be removed from the teabox.

Also, TraceyC, I just noticed in another thread you’re going on a trip in a month which looks about the time the teabox might be ready for you, so I might have to switch the list again.

Oh, I forgot to ask when you would be back at home after your trip, TraceyC. That might help. :D

I’m also worried about some of the packaging that has been used – especially for really scented teas like chai – if they are in thin baggies, a chai could easily make every other tea in the box taste like chai. I really suggest those packages in the link in the original post. Even if you used two high quality baggies for the same tea, the scent comes through. With the ebay pouches, no scent comes through at all, and I’ve tried that with some very strong smell-up-the-room teas before. Still no scent leak from those pouches! Something to consider.. it would benefit your personal tea collection as well. Maybe I could add some empty to the box for others to use? I’ll think about it.. not sure if I have many left..probably just enough for adding teas to the teabox.

Yay! I’m glad it made it there safely. Enjoy all the tea!!!

I ended up picking the bags you suggested up recently, as I did not have anything that seemed usable for tea swapping purposes, and I am thrilled that I did. Glad to know they help contain the scent too… I have a few pungent teas.

lolainred – awesome! I hope they work well for you. Those are the only pouches I will ever use from now on. I hope they don’t stop selling them.

oh! I just found the ebay page with a bunch of options for the pouches here, that should be just as good quality wise:

http://stores.ebay.com/uniquepacking/Stand-Up-Pouches-/i.html?fsub=12421750&sid=130704033&trksid=p4634.c0.m322

I will be gone a couple weeks, I’m gone June 15-26. I thought I might get it before I left, but if you think we are cutting it close I can be moved a couple down.

TraceyC – It probably will be close.. I have no idea. I probably won’t be mailing it until May 21st if I can actually get to the post office then. I’ll think about how to rearrange it.

Alright, I switched the list a bit everyone! TeaTiff was moved two places higher and the two Californians were switched in case of TraceyC’s trip. :D Sorry about that. It’s kind of my fault since I just made the shipping list fast. It’s tough to guess when the teabox will be where though, since some people like to mail the box two days after they get it, but some like to keep the box for weeks.

Also, I forgot to mention, the shipping back to me for this box was around $10, but that was from NJ to NY. I’m sorry about all the posts to this thread! I’m planning on working on the final list of teas that were in the box later tonight and that will go in the thread for round two.

Thank you for organizing. I know getting it all put together takes some effort on your part and “hopping” that it will all work out. It is greatly appreciated.

TeaTiff – didn’t see your message until now. You are very welcome. :D
