Twinings 1706 Out of Stock - Yikes!!!
I just might have to lie down and die!! I called Twinings USA yesterday to replenish my stocks of 1706, and were told that, and I quote…
Due to such high demand of this product, we are completely sold out and will not be re-stocking. We apologize for the disappointment and any inconvenience.
Huh? Is it just me or does this make no sense? PLEASE if anyone knows where else I can buy this tea online you would have saved one miserable life.
So they don’t want massive sales? Sounds like Twinings doesn’t know much about business.
Well I understood that one does run out when demand exceeds supply, but it is the bit about not re-stocking that I found difficult to comprehend? I have searched and searched online until my eyes are crossed but can’t find any anywhere. Oh well… London and Tesco’s here I come!!!
Yes, that logic is baffling. I’d say try some online resellers that may not be out of it yet. EnglishTeaStore.com didn’t have it listed. This place does, but as with any site you should probably try to read reviews or check the BBB before doing business: http://www.britsuperstore.com/acatalog/Twinings_tea_speciality_Blends__.html
Thank you – I will give it a shot and if not then I shall have to ask someone in the UK to send me a care package. And now…it’s not quite four o’clock but what they heck! Think I’ll have a cup now.
Hi – 1706 can be purchased online at http://www.twinings.co.uk/shop/1706-blend.html This is the Twinings UK website but I am sure there will be no problems shipping to you.
Thank you vickylane. I had looked at that option, but it did make the tea a wee bit expensive. Along with shipping it would work out to $11 a box. Normally I would not balk at this, bit sigh… what with the economy as it is, and as a result my dear husband having been out of work for the past year and a half, that might be a little frivolous on my part. I do have some friends who will be passing through London within the next couple of weeks, so hopefully they will get me a few boxes at Tesco’s and since they weigh nothing I don’t feel badly about having them bring them back. When things improve and if in my lifetime… UK ordering is the option I shall have to follow though. I looked for this tea in Canada when I was there last year, and was rather surprised that it was not found there either, since their tastes are far more British then those here in the US.
Twinings is headed by Sadists.
So here’s a dramatization of the CEO’s discussion about this topic:
A lavish boardroom, two men sitting at a long table, an over-priced, gaudy tea set between them.
“Here’s our reports, Thompson. Seems as if our 1706 is selling particularly well.”
“Ah, so it is, Jenkins.”
“Yes, so much so that we are nearly out of stock!”
“Hm…” – Thompson watches as Jenkins fills both cups – “let’s not reorder.”
“What?? Why not?”
“Because we can, my dear friend Jenkins. Because it will drive our customers mad, and there’s nothing they can do about it.”
“I like the way you think.” – he picks up the sugar bowl – “One lump, or two?”
“One, for now”
“Hm, but what about financially? We’ll missing out on money here!”
“We’re rich, Jenkins! We don’t need that chump change.”
“But what about our stockholders?”
“Our stockholders? Our stockholders can suck it. Cheers.”
“Cheers,” responds Jenkins, lifting his cup in a toast.
Thompson leans back in his red cushioned chair, holds his tea cup up to his nose, and inhales the decadent aroma of his 1706. Grinning, he holds his cup out to Jenkins. “Make that two lumps.”
J.K. Rawling is who???? Hysterical!! BUT think about it… if I come up with a fabulous combo of leaves on my own, I might be the next Tea Mogul!!
And cheers to you too!
Have you tried Amazon.com? They will have tea on there from sellers and it changes from time to time so you might luck up and find some ;-) good luck!
