Small Big traveling Tea Box - US only for now (In hiatus - waiting)

Hopefully it gets returned to sender and can be forwarded onward. It may also not turn up and someone else might try to start a new box to finish the trip or it just sort of ends. A few years back most teaboxes ended in disaster between user inactivity and postal woes. Hopefully this one and the others that are in limbo get back on track!

Can someone send her an actual snail mail letter? Maybe that might trigger her to send it on?

I wonder if making it Signature on Delivery would lessen the chances of a box going missing? The USPS once sent me the address part (cut out) of a box that I mailed…the rest I guess evaporated into thin air. Ever since, it’s made me want to compulsively wrap boxes in plastic tape. Although someone once suggested putting a bag into the box, filling it up, then tying off the bag and attaching a mailing label on that part too (before sealing the box, in case the box gets torn, so that the contents stay together).

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think sending addresses ahead of time is a good idea, especially considering what we have just seen.

I think making sure the person is still active is very important, and one way to do that is by making the next person send you their address.

We should be following at least two before and two after, and Skysamurai, IMO.

FWIW, looks like T(e)ARDIS only has 2 tasting notes and the last one was 5 months ago… she posted earlier in the thread that she’s a new nurse and maybe she is just overwhelmed at work and not paying attention to the posts here.

If she doesn’t respond to the snail mail we could ask Kittena and/or Roswell Strange to PM her since she’s following both of them.

BTW, Skysamurai, thanks so much for pulling this all together in the first place, I think we all appreciate your time and thoughtfulness, regardless of how this turns out :)

the only weird thing here on steepster is that you have to follow someone and they have to follow you in order for you guys to send messages to each other.

hmmm… i really thought i was following you. Should be good now.

It seems like there are two possibilities at this point:
-Something has happened (illness, death, move, some other dramatic thing I haven’t condidered)
-The box was stolen

Either way, it’s not going to turn up unless she is able and willing to send it onward and that doesn’t seem likely at the moment. Especially if something happened outside of theft.

You can either call the box off or if someone has enough tea and is willing, start another one and have that one carry on the journey. It doesn’t seem like anyone around here knows her in the real world, so this one is write-off (for now at least) and if it turns up again at some point, deal with it then.

EDIT: Just realized which thread this is and see a note from T(e)ARDIS on page 5 saying she is a new nurse and very busy. I guess there is option three as well which is that she is too busy to deal with it. Maybe give snail mail another week and then decide whether to start another or end it.

Hopefully she is alright. I agree. Might just keep waiting it out till then end of next monday.

Just got word from Kittena that she PM’d T(e)ardis this afternoon. Long shot, but maybe it’ll spur some response. (Thanks, Kittena!)

This box has been “lost” for going on two months. I don’t think this is your best bet, sadly. Especially with Steepster do unreliable it might be a bit before another box is started. In the meantime, if you make tasting notes on a regular basis and do some swaps you’ll increase your odds of being accepted when one does open. Good luck!
