Non dairy non citrus teas

My boyfriend is allergic to dairy (and citrus) so I feel that he’s getting the short end of the stick when it comes to a lot of dessert teas especially. Can anyone out there (customer or company) point me toward some yummy non dairy non citrus teas?

Maybe a Monk’s Blend variety? (Usually grenadine and vanilla and sweet and fruity.)

I agree – many of the Monk’s Blends I have tried I enjoy! Great suggestion!

I assume for a dessert tea that you are looking for non-caffeinated. What kinds of tea bases does he like?

American Tea Room – Choco*Late
52 teas/MySweetHoneybush – Champagne Strawberry, Cherry Cola, Neopolitan
Fava Tea – Carrot Cake Rooibos
Teas Etc – Coconut Custard
SpecialTeas – Creme/Caramel Rooibos (no dairy despite the name)

If you are ok with caffiene, I love these. Don’t know if they qualify as dessert teas:
Fava tea – Maple Sugar (black)
American Tea Room – Broiche (black)

BTW – if you look at my tea ratings, everything on there should be non-dairy. I’m very careful about that. And, I love sweet, fruity, chocolatety, etc teas!

Thanks for asking for clarification. By dessert I’m speaking only to the flavor, not the caffeine content. Can ATR teas be purchased by another company? I won’t buy from them. All great ideas (Duh, I have Maple Sugar lol) Any chocolate teas (like Choco*Late and Neopolitan) concern me due to possible dairy content. Thanks for the ideas!

You can double-check with Frank about the Neopolitan. It says “organic vanilla beans, organic cacao nibs, freeze-dried strawberry pieces and all natural flavors.” And I’ve checked with him in the past about ‘natural flavors’ and he assured me that there are no animal products in the flavorings. It definitely wouldn’t hurt to ask him again.

The Choco*Late is “organic cacao husks, organic vanilla beans and organic rooibos”.

There is only dairy in chocolate if people add it. Cacao husks and Cacao nibs would not contain dairy.

Chocolate implies milk added, it’s the cacao itself that doesn’t have milk. Carob would be a nice alternative too.

No it doesn’t. Dark Chocolate should not have milk (sometimes it gets added to cheap versions); Milk Chocolate has milk

The link you posted states “It is chocolate with no milk, or with much less milk than milk chocolate”

Right. That is why i said some cheap versions of dark chocolate add milk. Real dark chocolate shouldn’t have it.

He can’t risk it. Better avoid it all together just to be safe.

Check out Element Tea’s dessert teas. My father is lactose intolerant and I bought him several of those. He loves the Guiltless Apple Pie and Almond Delight. Can your boyfriend do soy milk or Lactaid? My husband puts a dab of that into the Almond Delight and it makes it creamier.

He can but I’m not looking for additive suggestions, just tea. It’s my opinion that a tea should be learned to enjoy clean 1st. I’ve never ordered anything from Element Teas- I’ll check them out. Thanks.

Completely agree! Don’t worry…the Almond Delight tastes great on it’s own too. :)
