I’ve struck out twice now, once at a Marshalls in NY and once at a TJ Maxx in Brockton, MA. I will be stopping at as many as I can in CT and MA tomorrow, so we shall see.

I visited a bunch of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods stores today in CT and MA, and while some of it was pretty thin, I did find the teas that have been mentioned here (but no other flavors). In general HomeGoods stores had better variety than the others (most TJ Maxx stores that I visited had none). Be sure to check up by the register, they are often placing them up there. If anyone is in the area, the HomeGoods in Longmeadow, MA had pretty much every variety, and a good supply.

I picked up Orchard Apple (which also has rose petals) and Rose.

If only the folks at Fauchon knew about this situation—clearly they need to open an online store accessible to North Americans. Just look at all of this enthusiasm! I mean: people are going out of their way to visit these stores on the off-chance that they might find some of their tea there????

Earth to Fauchon marketing team: Hello? Are you out there? Can you hear me?

I’m guessing the issue is that there’s a huge, huge tax levied on edible goods imported from France that makes the prices really high here.

Yes, but that doesn’t stop Nina’s, Les Palais, Kusmi, Marriage Frerese or Damman Freres. I’m sure they could find a way. Maybe they are just sore since their NYC stores didn’t take off very well.

I didn’t find any at Homegoods either, but was told they get trucks in every day.

They do ship some items to the US, but I think tea is lumped with foods that can’t be shipped. I haven’t emailed them to ask, but it might be one of those things that could be done.

That said, the teas found in TJ Maxx etc. here are being sold at half off as well, making it worth it even if you could order them online.

I think part of the problem that happened in New York was related to the fact that the building they were in was sold to a developer who shortened their lease and then made it obvious that he’d rather they vacate sooner rather than later. The experience left a bad taste in their mouth and made them more cautious. I think the tjmaxx/ rue campaigns are away to test the waters and to develop a brand profile in North America before making their next move.

Was there a rue sighting lately? ;-)

They have a Teaforte deal.

Still looking for a Peach/Thyme if anyone comes across one.

Dunno if you’re still looking for this one but the TJ Maxx near where I work had three tins of it. I knew you were looking awhile ago (I thought it had been longer than just 4 days. Lol), but I wasn’t sure if you had already gotten it or not so I didn’t end up getting one for you. But I’m totally willing to swing by there after work on Thursday and pick it up for you, if you are still looking.

FINALLY found just one of them, the apple. Wasn’t on my list of must haves, but I bought it anyways because well I have a tea problem and a “I might not be able to find the rest of them so i might as well get this one” problem. haha. It smells great. I’m hoping more will come in to my stores in the next week or so. I really want to try peach and thyme.

I didn’t find any at my local Winners/Homesense but they were in the middle of clearing out older stock so the shelves were pretty sparse. I’ll check back next weekend, they should have new stuff in by then.

I checked my local TJ Maxx and they had Apple and Earl Grey. I picked up the Apple and the tin is so cute! It has a sliding lid and then inside there’s another lid with a little handle. Adorable. :)

yes! love the tins!

I’ll definitely have to go check again in a few days to see if they’ve gotten any more flavors! Peche & Thyme, come to me!

Yeah, I need to check again soon too…all I got was pear.

I’m checking Saturday if you want to check earlier this week. Let me know which you want if they have them.

I LOVE the tins! So cute. And I have made it a regular occurrence to check my stores whenever I get a chance. It’s kind of ridiculous.

I have a general question about Fauchon, since I have never seen their teas for sale anywhere, much less tasted them. Are they pretty much like Kusmi and Palais des Thés and Nina’s? Or maybe Mariage Frères?

Which company do you consider Fauchon to be closest to in outlook and approach to tea? I mean, if it’s just more middling China black with loud flavorings, I can probably live quite happily without them…

Oh, sorry, was that too irreverent? ;-)

You answered your question. Some of them are decent but some too parfume-y. I can live without them. I can send you some samples once I get back home in Sept.

Thanks, boychik! I find a lot of hype swirling about such “gourmet shop” brands, which tends to make it easy for elevated expectations to be dashed.

Sometimes it seems that packaging is a higher priority than the tea. I’m all for beautiful tins, but if forced to choose between the two, I’ll take better tea in a less spectacular presentation.

So I finally got around to checking the TJ Maxx next to where I work. They didn’t have any of the Fauchon teas in their foods section (though they did have a tin of Whiskey flavored tea that I almost bought just out of curiosity). So I figured they didn’t have it, checked the clearance foods section just ‘cause I’m a sucker for clearance stuff where I found alot of more common ish ‘English’ tea. But then I found an opened tin of the Peach & Thyme kinda stuck in the back/hidden. It was closed, but you could tell it had been opened since there was some loose leaves stuck to one of the inner seals. I was bringing it up to the counter and lo and behold, they have the teas up near the registers on the aisles that you have to follow to get to the register. Two more tins of Peach & Thyme, 3 tins of Rose, 3 of Apple Orchard & one of Pear. I grabbed the Pear & one of the Apple since a friend of my Mom’s has been looking for it ever since her son brought her a tin when he was overseas.
I also got a tin of Highland Blend Tea that was on clearance (can’t lose too much at $3 for 4.4oz) and two packages of Sugar Glazed Cookies (also on clearance for $1.50 each).

That Peach & Thyme is in high demand! If you’re willing, I would love to buy one from you. :3

I’m in for one peach/thyme if you’re selling.

Really? Huh. Go figure. XD Well, when I go back there Thursday I’ll see about grabbing a tin for both of you. I’d go back tomorrow but I don’t feel like driving there on my day off. Lol!

Hooray, thank you! And no rush!

Any sightings lately? I have been scouring Homegoods and Tjmaxx in California and one location in NYC for the past several weeks and have had no luck! I was trying to look up locations of those who found it and it looks like the tea has mostly been spotted in the upper east section of the country.

I haven’t seen any at all in Vancouver, Canada. Kinda disappointed, but I don’t really need more tea… :)

I’m in Tennessee and I’ve checked pretty regularly with very little luck. I found one tin of the apple 3 weeks ago at one marshalls, but haven’t seen any sign of anymore since then at any of the 5 stores in my area.

None on Saturday when I checked.

Mid-Atlantic here, checked last week and there were still a few tins at my closest Marshall’s.

Was it a tiny window of them stocking it?! Is it only once a year that they buy it? I don’t need more tea either, but I sure do want some of this! I’m back in Texas in a week, so I guess I’ll cross my fingers and start stalking the stores there.
