Your teaware collection

How big is yours teaware collection, what teapots or gaiwans etc. do you have in your collection and are you planning to buy or would like to buy any new stuff in future. Do you have any special relationship with your teaware or do they have any sentimental value?
I have three teapots, one glass teapot by Bodum, one ceramic and also one yixing pot. The glass one is my first teapot ever and it would be absolutely horrible if something happened to it. It almost needs a name.

Before I started tea blogging I used:

Gravity Steeper (davidstea), a couple glass mugs, 2 travel tea tumblers, 1 thermos style metal tea pot and a 2 cup teapot (and a backup 2 cup tea pot as I’ve broken like 3 of them). I had a few favorite tea cups, mostly of the cute variety. I preferred to use the basics and putting the money into buying tea.

Now. Yikes. 4 gaiwans, 7 yixing tea pots, 2 gongfu cha sized tea pots, 3 full sized tea pots, 2 cast iron tea pots, 1 big glass tea pot, 2 pitchers, 3 gravity steepers, I think 4 or 5 travel tea tumblers, 1 Takeya iced tea pitcher, many mugs and even more little tea cups around 30 to 50ml. I’m probably forgetting to mention a few things.
Scary part is I got 2 korean infuser mugs and another gaiwan on its way to me. A lot of it is for the blog, at least I justify it that way. That and I have so much tea now, so I buy less and spend that money and pretty tea wares.

My favorite has to be my yixing pot that my in laws got me during their river cruise through China. http://oolongowl.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Oolong-Owls-first-yixing-tea-pot-9-1024×768.jpg

I have:

One yixing tea set (from Teavivre)
3 tiny ceramic teapots (from Umiteas)
One large ceramic Asian tea set I got from a charity auction. Beautiful set but I hardly use because the teapot is too big.
One medium sized cast iron teapot (from Costco)
Tiny Henley teapot (purchased on a vacation in cottage country)
Glass teapot (this was a gift from a friend. It’s for brewing blooming teas in) Hardly used at all.
Two tiny white & blue Chinese teapots (one is a set with cups and tray). I found these at Value Village
One white teapot and cup set. Another Value Village Find. It’s a teapot that sits on top of the cup.
2 travel tumblers
3 fine bone china cup and saucer sets.
David’s Tea tea mug with infuser
2 Oriental tea mugs with ceramic infusers (Found at the Asian market)
2 Oriental tea mugs with lids and saucers (Bought at Flea Market)

I don’t know if I have a favourite right now but those little blue and white teapots from Value Village were getting lots of use until some other new teapots came my way. The amazing thing about it was that I went into Value Village thinking I wanted to find a tiny teapot that was blue and white. I wanted one that had a Blue Willow type pattern. I found exactly that on that day. The whole set with teapot, cups, & tray. All looking perfectly new and not cracked. What are the chances of that?

I’d still like to buy another yixing down the road and I’d like a gaiwan too.

Those Tea for one -sets are so genious and fun, I would buy one to my friend for a gift if I find them somewhere. One gaiwan is must-have, I’m buying that thing next.

I used to have a tea for one set that was ugly (not all are cute) so I gave it to Goodwill. This new one is basic white and it came with a red tea cozy. I like plain white teapots.

My teaware collection has mushroomed. It has about 60 teapots, gaiwans, brewing mugs etc, mostly Yixing teapots but including glass and porcelain teapots too. I have about 15 teacups. It takes up two kitchen cabinets, one large tea table, and one medium tea table. I have mostly stopped adding to it as I have run out of places to put it.

I have over a dozen teapots of various sizes, almost all gifted to me by well meaning family. I regularly use my 24 oz bubble teapot from Davids, or my larger glass teapot with infuser for company.

Also, 2 gaiwan, 3 perfect tea mugs (one for hubby, home, and work), filter bags. No yixing as I don’t drink the same tea often enough, though if I did it would be used for Chinese blacks. Yunnan, I guess. Maybe. This is why I don’t have one.

For drinking, more mugs of various shapes, sizes and colours than I could possibly need. I have a lot of teaware items, but use only a handful regularly.

I have a pretty small collection. I have two gravity steepers that I use most of the time. I work at home so usually I make a mug of tea and take it to my desk – gong fu isn’t practical while I’m working.

Then I have a porcelain gaiwan/fair pitcher/two cups/tea tray that I use for gong fu both alone and with my daughter. I have a second gaiwan set but it’s teeny tiny (“travel sized”) and I haven’t tried it out yet. Then I just got a clay “easy” gaiwan that I will be using for oolongs.

I have a lot of teapots from back before I was a tea drinker (the irony) because I just liked collecting teapots.

Oh boy…my collection is too large to list here really. I’ve been into tea for around 10 years so I’m telling myself that’s why there is so much. Just scratching the surface:

-4 yixing pots
-2 gongfu size pots
-1 glass teapot
-2 ceramic teapots
-2 kyusu
-3 gaiwans
-1 travel gaiwan set
-5 “english” style cups
-4 hagi glaze cups

There’s a lot more but that gives a general idea, lol.

I started a thread to see if anyone else names their teaware: http://steepster.com/discuss/8032-do-you-name-your-teaware

I also have:
- 2 gaiwans
- a porcelain cup that matches one of my gaiwans
- a ru kiln cup
- cheap cast iron teapot with enamel on the inside
- a yixing teapot just for the shelf (it was a gift)
- an “English” tea set without the teapot (because thrift stores)
- two mugs
- two traveling tea mugs
