OK so the cost to send it was $10.80 and it weighed 5 pounds and 13 ounces. Just .2 ounces more than when Cameron B mailed it.
Wow, you guys have been so meticulous with the weight of this box. I’m SUPER impressed!
Looking forward to this! The only thing is I won’t be able to know what it weighs until I mail it, but I’ll try to go by how many teaspoons I take out.
I’m really not expecting anyone to be on Cameron B or KiwiDelight superhero levels of exactness, just try your best to estimate correctly :P

Part of the reason for low shipping cost is your bright idea of breaking the box into two by geography. Pat yourself on the back!
WHOA tea explosion! It has arrived. Sadly, it was almost literally a tea explosion as the box is a bit busted up and a “might be damaged” stamp from the PO. Most everything is in big ziplock bags though, so there shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Hopefully the new box I want to use to replace is big enough… Thank you everyone for keeping this going so far!
Nope, no problem, I JUST finished fitting all of the teas into a brand new box! It’s just a smaller box/ tighter fit. I also noticed a couple mint and chai teas that were kind of scent contaminating things so I’ll find a thicker pouch to put those in. There are 90+ different teas in the box. (If anyone wants to know I write an e-mail draft when I get a teabox with all of the tea names then color code as I go along – green is to try, red is already tried, blue is remove the rest from the box because there is only one serving or just to take out some teaspoons for later. It helps my brain out while picking a tea.. much more organized so I get less overwhelmed!)
I think post office damage is less a function of packing and more a random effect of being dropped or having something heavy put on top of it. I’ve been looking forward to this box for a long time and am excited that it’s getting close.
Oh SHOOT you know what I kept forgetting to ask? Did the envelope containing the instruction sheet fall off? I took the sheet out when I had the box and forgot to put in back when riiiight after I finished taping the package.
Nope, the sheet is still with the box, I just took it out of the envelope.
Madametj – Since there is such large amounts of the same tea (generosity of tea companies is the fault here. :D) and most people keep the box for a few days, I think there will be a lot of the same teas getting back to you. If you added a few people to list before you get the tea box back there might be a better variety of teas for you (hey, you could probably even add ten more people and the teas might still be the same.) Just an idea! But I’m trying to take a lot of things out that have one serving left to try later so I can replace with other teas.
Enjoying the teabox! Haven’t disliked any teas yet. Hopefully I will be mailing on Wednesday. I only get a chance on Wednesday and it wasn’t possible this Wednesday (today) anyway. I hope that is okay.. I realize I’ll have the teabox for a week and half. Sorry!
Yes, today was the day! Sent to Dr Jim! It weighed 5 lbs 5.30 ounces… and now I’m seeing it was a lot lower than it was supposed to be! Oh no! Sorry about that. I was counting teaspoons and everything. Maybe because the box I replaced it with was smaller? Everything was loose in the box before… now it’s more compact.

This box is INSANE! There must be 140 teas in here. Let’s see: we’re supposed to mail in 7 days so that means 20 teas per day? I’m overwhelmed.

Lol that’s why I suggested baggying samples for later. I know it’s too much to try all in one week :P
Glad it got there! I forgot to mention the instruction sheet is in the bottom of the box, because that was the first thing that went in right when I got the tea box and replaced the box right away just to make sure I had a box that fit everything.
I’m coming down with a really bad head cold, so put together a bunch of mini-samples for later and plan to send the box out tomorrow. Hopefully, christeana1 will get it Saturday.
