Yes, please! Would love to have an off-topic forum!
Good idea. Somewhere to talk about other things.
I know! I’m so shocked! :(
Very sad. I am shocked as well. :(
Ughhh I am seriously so sad about his death! He’s always been one of my favorite actors. And he played such inspiring roles in films. And yeah, this is why we need an off-topic forum. xD
Oh no! How sad. I’ve pretty much grown up watching his movies.
I feel so down right now. I loved watching Mrs. Doubtfire, Aladdin, and Jumanji was a kid.
Very sad, I loved his range. I first saw him in More and Mindy when I was very small. I loved Dead Poets society, Good Morning Vietnam and many of his comedies. Feel for his family. I’ve known too many people touched by depression.
I remember him best as Peter Pan in ‘Hook’.
I loved Hook! No matter how old I get I will always love it!
That film is so magical (:
I just saw “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn” last week. it was funny and sad. My kids love “Mrs Doubtfire”. they can watch it anytime.
Very sad news.
Now I understand the sad blue eyes…
I saw this on twitter and pretty much started bawling:

I loved him and all his roles. He was so talented. A voice of my childhood.
Yeah I was watching one hour photo on ifc at like 1pm yesterday and then heard the news later in the day. crazy.
Before I saw this thread, I wrote my thoughts about Mr. Williams into this morning’s tasting notes on Teavivre’s milk oolong. This is a better forum, so here it is again:
Full disclosure: I have a cold coming on so my senses are not what they might be. Also, I tasted this over my morning paper’s shocking report of Robin Williams’ death. It’s confusing to be sad about a comic genius. But that was Robin Williams: no one better balanced tortured and utterly hilarious. Goodbye Robin. Thanks for the laughs and the pathos. You’re a master of both.
Gotta love how this thread totally turned into the robin Williams appreciation thread xD
When I heard, this is where I wanted to go to talk about it, with my tea friends here. I am sad that there’s no off topic place where I can post things like that without hesitating.
Yes, so sad. People need to recognize depression for the terrible illness it is.
A lot of people with depression think their medication isn’t work which just makes them more depressed. Just pure speculation, but maybe that’s what happened to Robin. My boyfriend’s friend just killed himself a month ago after complaining that his medicine wasn’t working. He’s only been taking it for a couple of weeks but it takes a couple of months to kick in! No one had told him that.
I’m sorry about your bf’s friend, I have a friend who would experience often worse depression or emotional swing as and a lot of anger for the first month or so after going on a new medication. It took her body at least that long to adapt to it. I could definitely see that.
My mother is nearly two years into the attempt to find a good medication and dosage. It took about a year on the first before the doctors finally gave in and decided that would not help, so she had to be weaned off and then started on the second. She has made great strides but now feels that her current state is as good as it gets. I hope for more, for her sake and ours but it’s a very long process. Months is optimistic, and backslides and adjustments are pretty much a lifelong likelihood. I always hope for better medical advances – treatment now is a far cry from those of 50 years ago, so there is hope.
