I have a variety of different teas that I enjoy at night. My favorite herbal tea to drink at night is Green Rooibos, which has a pretty good taste and has no caffeine. I also enjoy rooibos, but I don’t find it to be as soothing as green rooibos.

I also am lucky enough to be able to sleep even when I’ve recently had some caffeine, so I also enjoy White Peony and Honeysuckle White at night.

Adagio’s Foxtrot is a good standby

“Psychic” herbal tisane from SBS Teas. It tastes nice, knocks me out and gives me vivid dreams. It’s awesome.

Hey Suzi- that sounds interesting! Knocks you out? Exactly how vivid are your dreams? LOL I couldn’t find it on their website, but perhaps I wasn’t looking in the right place.

I’m afraid I’m not very careful about the late night caffeine thing, and I should be, as excess caffeine can be a migraine trigger for me. So, I have my lovely herbal tisanes for when I’m being good, and the rest of my stash to indulge my naughtier whims.

I’ve mentioned before that I love almost anything mint, and that goes for tisanes, as well. I’ve been drinking Choice Organic’s Liquorice Peppermint lately, which is very nice. Chamomile is another favorite of mine, but it also occasionally triggers migraines, especially if not blended with another herb, so it’s one of those things for me that is a little like playing roulette to drink it. Rooibos – I bought a couple of rooibos teas, but I can’t really like them. Chai is another thing I like at night – mixed with milk and honey, it cuts down the caffeine and is a nice soothing bedtime drink.

Anything. Oolong, black, white, green, yellow, whatever. I’m not an old-timer, so caffeine doesn’t matter to me so much. Plus, night-time isn’t bed-time for me.

If anything, I’ll do finer teas at night, because it’s more serene, and I can get my room totally dark but for candle light. Tea is all about the mood.

I could see curling up w/ a nice bowl of matcha or a matcha latte, but I haven’t found a decaf version yet. Sad:(

But I thought you didn’t want to drink decaf tea…? :P

teaplz, you’re right- well almost always. I can drink regular true tea (even 1st infusions) at nite and not be affected too bad, except for matcha- I had a cup the nite I got my set and it really made me jittery and kept me up longer than I wanted to be. Decaf true tea (ESPECIALLY matcha) would be good for those occasions where I want something but I have to be up freakishly early or just want matcha at nite. It’s not that I’m against it being decaf- I’m just against my tea being altered. I can’t help but think there’s a possibility that the flavor and/or health benefits are changed in some way or reduced. It’s herbals I won’t drink alone practically ever, unless I’m doing a review.

I am ok with drinking caffeinated tea in the evening (in fact a cup around 8pm peps me up enough to enjoy a movie or some reading without inadvertently falling asleep!!) so I drink whatever I’m in the mood for. I actually don’t have any decaffeinated tea or herbals in the house except for one bit of rooibos which I haven’t even opened yet!! I have enjoyed it out in the past, but never seem to want to make it at home!

I do that too, although it will eventually catch up to me if I drink a LOT of it. I had a coupon for a free drink at Starbucks for my birthday and couldn’t get there til 8:30. I ordered a decaf quad venti and either it was all in my head (I’m like that so it’s possible) or they messed up cuz I was up til 1:30am. Oh well, it was an UBER AMAZING drink and so worth it! I also got a headache from a 36oz 6 bag tazo ginger green iced tea once. But that may have been just because I drank it too fast instead of spreading it out.

I’ll be buying some powdered sencha soon. Since you only use 1/8tsp per 4oz water, I’m hoping that’ll allow me to have a matcha type experience that I can handle physically at nite.
