Rats. I didn’t realize that the Paypal option isn’t working still. It won’t go through for me. I’ll try again tomorrow and hope this isn’t so limited that it’ll run out before Paypal figures itself out. Lol.
Yeah, Paypal sucks big time tonight! I will try to wait, too, as I avoid paying with a credit card as much as I can. I loved the ripe sampler so much, I really hope I can get my hands on this one as well :)
I was going to get this and also treat myself to a few black teas but as soon as something else was added to the cart, I lost the discount for the sampler. Any suggestions? Should I have had to enter a discount code? Maybe it’s a sign. I didn’t even get to try all the ripe sampler teas yet, haha.
That is the same issue I had with the ripe sampler. It pretty much punishes you for trying to order anything other than the sampler. I tried pointing this out to Garrett but I guess I wasn’t really explaining myself right. Oh well, in a way it’s their loss because I had planned to order teaware and tea besides the samplers but it didn’t happen.
Well if I read the main post right, that wasn’t supposed to happen this time. I think with the ripe, it wasn’t clarified so I just got the sampler. This time I thought I could order extras. I’m mostly okay with it though, I’ve reallocated those treat funds to a potential yarn purchase this afternoon instead. HAH!
Ha. We can always reallocate those funds somewhere else. I guess it is a good thing, I already have so much teaware and tea. But they have some things that caught my eye and would have loved to get them. I guess they just don’t need to sell other stuff. Lol!
The sampler costs you $5 if you order it alone. A discount is applied. Essentially this is us giving free shipping.
The sampler costs you $5 if you order it with other items. No discount is applied to the cart total. Essentially, you’re paying shipping for the other items. Here’s why:
Moving from a 3oz. padded envelope to a first class or priority box with several items explodes our shipping cost. It makes the offering unsustainable for us financially. It turns into us giving out free samplers with any order. It’s quite a bit of tea, Smart Soak, and even more work. Garret carefully chips the tea off cakes 7 grams at a time to ship these out.
If you would like the sampler and other items, you will pay the exact same amount by making two separate orders and have the added bonus of more samples in the other box!
I hope we can delight you guys with your future orders. We’d love to, really. We’re two guys working our butts off to do this in a soulful and genuine way, but we have to offer specials like this in a viable way for our business. Your feedback, even the snarky digs, honestly help us and we’ll continue to try improve. But “punish” our customers? Never!

I definitely understand that. You are giving away the sampler for free with 5 dollars shipping OR the sampler for 5 dollars and free shipping. One or the other. Now if you add other stuff to the cart. Now you are giving the sampler for 5 dollars AND charging the 5 dollars for shipping. Where is the motivation for customers to add more stuff to the cart. Am I really missing something here? You could give away the sampler for free AND add the 5 dollars for shipping IF they are adding more stuff to the cart. It just does not make sense to me. Again, that could just be me. If it it, I apologize for my “Snarky digs”. But that’s just how I see it. And maybe I am missing something because seems like I am the only one. So once again, I apologize.

If you order it and other things ship is not free. I don’t see any punishment. I think it’s a great deal to try high quality sheng for $5.
