Anyone looking for more followers and people to follow on Steepster? Post here!

I hope this is an appropriate topic. I would like to get a discussion post running for anyone who would like to get more followers and people to follow here on Steepster.

I, for one, would definitely appreciate more followers, as I’d like my reviews to reach more people, and I would also like more people to follow, so I will gladly follow anyone who follows me! So if you are interested, you can simply follow me and I’ll follow you back. If you’d like others to do the same for you, please leave a reply to this discussion and we’ll help out.

:D

You can also check http://steepster.com/recent if you’re looking for new tasting notes/users to check out.

I find the ‘explore’ tab is good for it also.

Good post – glad I found it! I am a bit perplexed as to how to get more followers. Are my reviews not worthy? My tea tastes not popular? I get the feeling that people who participate in TTBs, swaps, and sales get all the love. I’ll persevere, since I initially joined to keep an orderly record of the teas I’ve tasted. I do enjoy reading others’ reviews, and still hope to find new teas and tea companies to try out from other members.

I usually follow people after seeing their posts on the message boards, not from their reviews.

Oh! And maybe fill out your profile, people will find things they relate to and follow you.

It may be a good strategy to just follow a bunch of people who leave reviews that you like on teas you are interested in. Usually I find that if I follow someone they will follow me back. Not always, but sometimes.

I explore reviews every now and then and add people who review similar sorts of teas that i know i like. Either that, or folks that i interact with and have interesting tea conversations with…or folks that are from places that are further away as they’ll tend to explore companies i haven’t heard of. I don’t follow everyone that follows me, but if people follow me, i generally take the time to go explore their notes/cupboard etc to see if there’s a common thread there…

I do swaps but very few hit the discussion boards so I don’t think that gains any following. I think mine may be the “niche” in the category of tea I usually drink. Be active in tasting notes and discussions it will come. Sakura and Lion followed you both. look forward to your notes.

I sometimes check out Explore tab once in awhile and will follow newer members who are drinking teas I am interested in (mostly unflavoured).
Lion, am really enjoying your posts. Sakura Sushi, I haven’t seen your posts , so following you now.

I now tend to follow people if they have similar tastes to me or drink the kind of teas I am interested in – even if they don’t like them. I almost never read dashboard anymore though so I don’t often follow people for content, more if I am going to interact with them somehow.

Marzipan and Lion, all good ideas! I’ll have to work on my bio – that may take a little while. Lion, I do try to find reviews that reflect my tastes, and I’ve added members to follow based on that. I also want to be open to new teas as well. Thanks for following me!

Dont worry abt bio. i dont have any. Your reviews are more important ;)

I like the bios. It tells a lot about a person- I think.

I’m new. Learning so much about teas. My start was at a Teavana and I’m venturing out to other companies now. I’m following a bunch of people so I can learn more! Can’t say I have great reviews- yet! But I will. I’m Obsessed with teas and talking about them!

I followed you guys ^^
Usually I just follow anyone who is active, because I like to read the reviews even if it’s not my ‘usual’ kind of tea, as it inspires me to try more (:

Well, this discussion thread has been downright magical! Just wanted to thank the people who posted and the ones who followed me. Gave me a lot to consider. Thanks for starting this topic, Lion!

Personally, I take the time to go through a few pages of tasting notes anytime someone follows me before deciding whether to follow them back.

Things I take into consideration when following people are how active they are (both on discussion boards and writing tasting notes), whether our tastes clash at all (I drink a lot of flavoured blends and straight blacks), and whether their notes are strictly about tea or whether they blend personal stories/anecdotes into their notes. I like getting to know the people I follow and I enjoy hearing about everyone’s lives and sharing that aspect in addition to the tea drinking aspect. Both are important to me.

Occasionally I’ll follow people with tastes completely opposite to mine though; I find that often pushes me outside of my comfort zone and leads to me learning more about unfamiliar tea types, flavours, or ways of brewing.

I’m glad someone doesn’t mind the personal stories. I rambled way on in a note this morning and almost felt guilty. But no more! :)

Everyone should follow Roswell in my opinion. :D

I drink DAVIDsTEA almost exclusively, so I’d like to find people who review their teas on a regular basis. I’m also looking for people from Toronto and other parts of Canada to follow!
