Steepster Member w/Forum Tech Support Background?

It looks like the Steepster team has their hands full with the current website issues.
I wonder if there’s a Steepster member who has significant experience with website/forum technical support that would happy to lend a hand improving the reliability of this wonderful website so that our very friendly supportive community of tea lovers may stay connected with each other? Thank you!

All the issues with the forum seem to be server side, so I don’t know what anyone could do from the user end, aside from stating the forum is broken when people are wondering why their posts aren’t appearing or why the forum is stuck.

Providing the kind of access required to actually fix anything doesn’t seem like the kind of thing the site owners would likely just be offering to random volunteers.

The intent of this thread is to facilitate and expedite possible solutions, brainstorming, “looking outside the box” as Steepster may have limited tech support resources.

Agreed, the issues appear to be on the server side and cannot be improved / resolved from the user end.

The hope is that this thread may promote constructive dialog between those members with the needed background to consult with the Steepster Team to assist in improving / resolving the current challenges with this forum.

I continue to be mystified by the utter dysfunctionality of this site. My first eight months here, everything worked splendidly. Whatever was done two months ago was a huge, unmitigated mistake. Why not just return to the “good old days”?

I don’t get it. Aren’t updates supposed to improve rather sabotage functionality? If the updates don’t work, then they should be un-updated.

After a while, no one will be joining this site, because it’s too much of a ridiculous, incoherent waste of time.

I’m a professional web developer with server experience (16 plus years). If I can help Steepster in any way Jason, please let me know.

I am sure if they need it, they will ask themselves. I am confident that they know what they are doing and that they are working as hard as they can, and that progress is happening even though we can’t see it.

I would also disagree with the update being a mistake. I far prefer these freezing issues to being drowned in page after page of solahart spam on a daily basis, sometimes several times a day.

Ha, if you think this is annoying you should have been here back when Steepster was young and growing far quicker than the servers could keep up with and the Overlords had ever expected. Back then, you set it to refresh your dashboard, then you went and made a cup of tea and by the time you came back, the page had loaded. If you were lucky and the site was fast that day.

Sounds horrible! But why do no other sites familiar to me have such basic, profound problems? Surely it’s not due to astronomical traffic, given the number of Facebook likes…

Aaah, those were the days. When the speed of Steepster matched the speed I enjoyed my tea at.
