Thinking about experimenting with some Earl Grey with food… but I’m not sure on what to put it into. Any ideas? Maybe cookies?

I was watching an older episode of The Great British Bake Off last night, and one of the bakers made cupcakes. ;)

Earl grey shortbread or maybe a cheesecake would be delicious!

I’ve had earl grey shortbread before. It was awesome! I imagine a vanilla cupcake with earl grey cream filling or frosting would be good, too. Those seem pretty easy, though. I wonder if it could be used in any savory applications….

I’ve made earl grey scones before and they were delicious! https://aislingoftea.wordpress.com/tag/zing-me-scones/ (this recipe used Zing Me, but we tried it first with Earl’s garden from Davids.

As for savory, my wife has definitely marinated a steak in Earl Grey and it was delicious.

Aisling of tea, would you like to join our box. Also guys I was standing there making my lil girls breakfast when i realized i don’t have the list of people in order. Who would like to receive it next?

I would, but we’re doing a lot of travelling in the next little bit and I just don’t have the energy for it at the moment. So thank you, but for now I’ll have to say no. But I’ll be watching the thread and be happy to share any recipes I come up with as well as buy the cookbook if it becomes available!

I have the box! It was jammed so tightly into my mail box that I literally had to destroy it to get it out (cut it open with my keys, pull all the tea out, squish the box with my foot to get it out), but all the tea arrived intact.

I’m super excited to try stuff :)

oh my gosh my mail man does the same freakin thing!!!! Its so annoying. You would think it would save them time to just bring it up to the step instead of trying to play tetris with it! haha

Hope you enjoy! At one point I had to just tape up the box or I knew I would just keep adding stuff.

To be fair, the opening of my mail box is slightly smaller than the rest of the interior dimensions, so it probably slid in from the back quite easily, but I couldn’t even fit my fingers around it to pull it out, and it absolutely would not come out of the door end. The best part is, I live in an apartment building, and we have a parcel locker that they can put boxes into, so they don’t even need to bring it to the door.

Okay maybe this is a silly question, but this is the first TTB I’m participating in.

How precisely should the amount of tea removed and the amount put in match? I have half the stuff I removed measured in teaspoons and the other half measured in grams, so I could aim to get it perfect but I’d probably have to do a lot of math and careful measuring.

Is it okay if I just approximate it and throw in a wee bit extra? I don’t want anyone to feel short changed, but I don’t want to add weight to the box if that’s bad. I also repacked a bunch of the really smelly teas into air tight ziplock bags, so that’s going to add a bit of weight as well.

Am I over thinking this?

Although I think this is ultimately up to Skysamurai, I wouldn’t mind you approximating :)

You’re overthinking it. :)

Hehe. From what I’ve seen and what makes most sense to me is to make sure that the next person gets a full or close to full box. Kinda the golden rule. No obe wants to receive a half empty box. Well… mostly lol. Maybe people who have lots of tea to give away would prefer it that way haha.

Don’t forget to update tea and write a recipe:)
