I think the Vanilla Chai tasted better than it smelled.

My first two lids opened easily. Fingers crossed for the rest. I read on a facebook thread that David’s Tea suggests putting a rubber band around the lid and one around the base and twist. I will try that if it happens to me.

Agreed about the Vanilla Chai tasting better than the scent. I found mine to have brewed up to be quite dilute-tasting. Seems that there’s some good potential there though. I might give it another shot with the other half of my sample.

Hello there everyone! I plan on making tasting notes of each of the teas, and have done the first two already. Thus far, I haven’t been too impressed: I already knew I wasn’t a big fan of Forever Nuts, and the Vanilla Chai was a bit disappointing. Looking at the back of the box, I know for sure there will be teas I enjoy, but will have to see when that comes up, haha. :)

Also, echoing that the tins are hard to open. I’m able to twist them off, but not without spilling a few leaves due to the shock of the sudden pop.

A rubber band around the lid and add one husband worked for mine.

Tin #3 has been impossible for me to open thus far! Looks like it was screwed on improperly in the packaging. I’ll be using all the recommended techniques here. I really don’t want to ruin the tin though- they are so cute! I also don’t have a hammer… :P

I got it! I was able to open the tin without breaking it! Here’s how:
I put the tin (upside down) on a solid desk/table and put lots of pressure on it. The pressure made the lid snap into place so that it was in line with the screwing grooves better and was easy(er) to twist off at that point. I’m particularly excited for the tea today :)

Ooh, I’ll have to keep this in mind for any future hard-to-open tins. Thanks! (And of course, after the hammer incident, the lids for two and three came off without a hitch.)

Ack I’m so jealous. I did snag an advent calendar, but I had it shipped down to my folks in TN, because we will be there for two weeks over Christmas and that way we’ll have a variety of teas. It was supposed to keep us from bringing a ton of teas over the border, but that failed. But the calendar is so pretty and I want mine so bad! Gah!

Day 2 is a milk oolong. I’ll probably hold on to that one until my replacement kettle gets here, my variable temp died yesterday.

Ooo, I think you’ll enjoy that one. It’s lovely and re-steeps forever!

I’m excited about it, it will be my first milk oolong.

I love this tea. It is one of my staples.
I like how the leaves unfurl in my steeper.
It also pairs well with brie and shortbread cookies (not together!)

Not gonna lie, the last couple of days I’ve been drinking some very good Verdant oolongs, and I think it has ruined today’s for me. It just seems sort of muted in comparison. Maybe I’ll revisit the rest of the sample later.

I have not tried any others but I probably should-just to compare. I find that this batch is different than the one I had last year. I liked last year’s a little better.

I agree. I thought it was just me——-but last year I ordered more after Christmas because I really enjoyed it. Not so much this batch.

I have a fun story regarding the DAVIDsTEA advent calendar :)

Here in Edinburgh, a friend of mine mentioned the advent calendar to the owner of the local Anteaques shop. He was SO excited about it and was asking about all the details such as the company that made it, the types of tea that was in it etc. My friend mentioned this to me and I thought it would be nice to actually bring the calendar in to show him- so I did and he was VERY impressed. He commended DAVIDsTEA on their excellent presentation and packaging and was mentioning how he wishes he could produce something similar.

Still loving the calendar- so far I’ve tried all the teas that have been in there so far but it has been so nice to revisit some old favourites!

Is anyone else super duper behind on their calendar? =)

I open it every morning but don’t necessarily drink them that day.
