This stuff is pretty good no matter what way you prepare it or drink it. The first time I had it I was very shocked at the difference in taste from traditional yerba mate. But, this isn’t a bad thing at all. San Mateo has a very youthful and bright flavor and is great for an afternoon perk up and especially great in the summertime as an iced beverage. I love this stuff!
5 Tasting Notes
Wow… I don’t know what to say. First, as soon I as opened the tin there was a rush of scent that flooded my senses. I was so taken a back a first. To be honest, I was slightly worried it was going to be too much. But, after making the tea and taking that first sip, I am so please with this purchase. I have no way to describe the many different flavors that are in this tea. I cannot pinpoint what the flavors are. Some sort of berry obviously (strawberry? raspberry?).
I don’t know what it is… But, I do know that this tea is fantastic.
Great peach taste with a strong, standard black taste behind it. Not the highest quality tea, but it gets the job done.
Great tea that lives up to its name. Is very strong, so for those of you that don’t like stronger teas, I would stay away. Many complain of the taste, but be careful on how you brew it. Follow the instructions many others have used: very hot/boiling water and low steep time.
Great citrus-y taste, but the overall taste is somewhat on the weaker side for me.
