The taste of carrot was actually hard for me to detect. Sweetening this, however, gave a flavor reminiscent of the natural sweetness of carrots. The spice of the cinnamon and clove is predominant, but I actually did not find the spiciness to be overpowering. In similarly spiced teas I’ve tried the cloves usually take over and mask everything else. Here the spices are well-balanced, especially once the brew is sweetened. After swallowing there is a syrupy aftertaste, like molasses. I am actually reminded a little of raisin, even though there aren’t any raisins in this blend as far as I could tell. Actually, as a whole, this tisane reminds me more of oatmeal-raisin cookies than it does carrot cake. Not that that’s a bad thing; I like oatmeal raisin cookies!

Definitely let this steep for a good long time, and enjoy with a splash of milk or cream and your sweetener of choice!

This is a really interesting flavored tea! I first tried an amaretto-flavored custom bend from Adagio, which has inspired me to hunt down other teas with almond flavor. I’d heard good things about this company, so thought I’d give this a shot.

The dry leaves smell like sweet, strong marzipan. I notice the previous reviewer mentioned seeing what look like coconut flakes mixed in with the leaves. I’m not 100% sure what they are – wish The Necessiteas mentioned them in their description – but I suspect they might actually be bits of dried marzipan.

At any rate, this tea does have a nice almond flavor. The aroma of the dry leaf was a bit too strong, but it calmed down once the tea was steeped. This is definitely a cream-and-sugar tea; without the sugar the bitterness of the black tea clashes a bit with the almond.

Worth a try if you like marzipan.

If you steep it at only about 3 minutes, the black tea is smooth and not bitter at all, and you can really enjoy the almond without sugar that way. I experiment with black tea brewing times (from any company) and the three minutes works really well to keep the boldness of the black from getting bitter or a bite to it. Hope this helps :-) It made this Sweet Almond one of my favorite teas!

Wow, is this strong or what? As soon as I poured this tea I was bathed in the aroma of jasmine. Normally I have to put my nose almost to the cup to get the full of aroma of the tea, but from this one the jasmine was just wafting from the cup. The taste was similarly strong; the jasmine lingered in my mouth after I was done sipping.

I can imagine that some people might complain about not being able to taste much of the green tea. It’s true, the jasmine is a little overpowering. But honestly I’m not complaining. This is kind of something I would need to be in the mood for, but when I do have a hankering for a good floral tea I’d be happy to reach for this.

I was very pleased with the aroma of the leaves- a lovely, unmistakable peach. Good start! Once steeped, the (dark!) golden liquor revealed some interesting floral notes. As soon as I began to sip, some of that specialness began to dissipate. To me it tasted very similar to the other Adagio whites, and I was hoping for more distinct peachiness. The peach flavor came as more of an afterthought.

This tea is incredibly light. To me it was flavorful enough- I definitely could taste a leafy, vegetal flavor with some distinctly floral notes. Still, this is definitely the most delicate white tea I’ve tasted, and I understand that is part of its charm.

This one will need some repeated tastings before I decide whether I enjoy its lightness, or prefer a more full-flavored tea.

The dry leaves gave off a very strong honey aroma. However, once steeped the sweetness disappeared. Instead it tasted of vegetation, rather like sipping a mouthful of cooked vegetables. The flavor was smooth, though there was a hint of bitterness and astringency.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I simply prefer sweeter or more floral teas, and this one just isn’t for me.

I am still new to Chinese teas, but I was really impressed by the flavor in this one. The vegetal flavor is strong but sweet. It has faint almost fruity notes that remind me of peaches. The aroma is wonderful- very light and again, sweet.

I am a big fan of this tea now, and it would be a top choice of mine when looking for something delicate. A cup of this is perfect when sitting at home alone and enjoying a moment of peace and quiet. The only downside is that I noticed a bit of astringency, although it is certainly not as strong as in many teas out there.

I purchased a sample tim of this from Adagio. I’m not sure if my tea was too old or I just got a bad batch, but I could detect no hint of gingerbread when I opened the tin to smell the dry leaves. So of course after steeping there was no gingerbread to be found. The aroma was to me a very sweet caramel-honey with only the barest hint of spice. I did not taste any ginger or spice when I drank it.

I tried this tea both plain and with sugar. With a little sugar I found it to be a very pleasant black tea to drink, but as a flavored tea it is a disappointment.

Mixed feelings about this tea. I love the sweet aroma of vanilla and coconut that this tea produces. I do wish a little more of this was present in the actual flavor. I found this tea on first sip to be a simple, bitter black tea. It’s only the aftertaste that really reveals the vanilla and coconut. Drinking this tea plain wasn’t particularly enjoyable. With some cream and sugar added, the flavor was much improved. This is definitely a milk and sugar tea. Might also be good iced, though I haven’t tried it.
