230 Tasting Notes
Oh! When I went to DAVIDs this evening to buy my lime green Nordic tea pot! (FIRST TEA POT EVER!! SO EXCITED) I purchased more of this since it has been discontinued!
I think I messed up with the tea pot though, I put three “perfect scoops” into the basket, and I am thinking that I only needed two “perfect scoops”. (Does anyone know exactly how much tea DAVIDs “perfect scoops” holds?)
I can still smell apricots and peaches, with a “slight” zing of ginger! I am so settling in for the night with my Kobo and a pot of this!
I can finally say POT!! hahaha!
Preparation
What’s in your tea cup first thing in the morning?
Today? THIS ONE!
I am not a fan of rose petals in my tea, (though I will eat them with day lily petals on a bagel with cream cheese) but I must say they add a little something special to this tea, I think when I get my new (and first) teapot today, I will be enjoying me the last of this while I sit at home reading tonight!
But I digress, I am still not able to discern astringency and all those other notes that are in tea, unless I over steep it and today I (oops! sigh) over steeped this one, but a little cream and this will go down easy and in just enough time to choose another tea to put in my to-go cup and head to work!
I cannot believe I have never logged this tea! I have had so much of it this Summer. Both at Camp and at home! (Thanks again DAVIDs for your generous donation of herbal teas for these children to enjoy Sun Steeped tea at Summer Camp!!)
I’ll be back tonight to post the children’s reviews as well as my own. It was a great love affair while it lasted!
Oops! I think the water was too hot, so I gave this a short steep!
I’ll be back to discuss the taste later as well as how the second steep fared.
Later….
Mmmmmmm, ’nough said! But I am biased I love peaches and apricots in my tea!
Preparation
Oh, I better race back and buy some of this tomorrow along with the tea pot that is on sale that I have eyes on!
Damn that discontinued-fairy! Maybe we could work out a swap? I may have something in my cupboard you might like to try :)
Your store still has some?? Man, mine ran out months ago when they warned me about it being discontinued. I have 150 grams of “backup”. : )
Yeah, I was about to say, holy crap that tea was discontinued ages ago! We bought one of the Nordic teapots last night, the purple one. I couldn’t resist, it matches my kitchen!
I got some online awhile ago and I think you may still be able to get it there. I think that is the cutest teapot. Almost bought it as a shower gift for my cousin who is purple crazy.
I’m buying the LIME NORDIC today after work!! hahaha! and I will grab a tin of this tea and a small pouch for you Jenn (and no worries about a swap, I am sure at some point you will rave about a tea that will make me scream "gimme, gimme, GIMME! ….. Phuwease?)
I wish you could mix and match the cups because I would love just one cup of each colour… sigh oh well…
The Nordic teaware is so cute…I have a moratorium on teaware though, as I have even less room for that than I do for tea! Luckily, I prefer clear teaware, so I can usually resist the urge.
I want the mugs too, but we need more teacups.mugs like we need holes in our heads. We came home with 6 big mugs from our vacation and had to crowbar them into an already too-full cupboard >.<
Although now I’m wondering, if we contacted Davids and let them know we both wanted one from each set, would they be willing to split them up for us? Hmm.
Haha. We have had to take mugs and glasses out of our cupboard and store them on top because we are too out of room. I tend to get gifted mugs fairly frequently, which is great, except 2 people can’t really use 38 mugs and 24 glasses. I am only slightly exaggerating those numbers, too!
Twist my arm! Okay, I’d totally love a pouch if there’s any left at the shop. I WILL be giving you something in exchange, or maybe I can send you $ via paypal? I’ll PM you :))))
Those tea pots are too cute, and a cup in every color would be adorable. Maybe if we all bought a set and swapped? Wait… that may be crazy talk.
Jenn I am just waiting for your addy to mail you some tea. People must’ve been panicked about this tea because they opened their last bag yesterday (at the store here) and when I got in she just have enough for 150g! Yikes! You’d think that kind of demand would make DAVIDs change their mind?!
I bought 10g of this today…
I can really smell the mushroom as it steeps and my poor gag-reflex is working over time, but I will prevail! I will taste this! and worst comes to worst I know a co-worker who would kick ass for what is left of this bag. So blessedly I am not worried about waste!
I think I may have over steeped this, by accident… The flavour is such a “superman punch” to the face I almost lost some teeth on impact! That being said….: I LIKEY!! I think I just might have to add this one to my list of blacks that are must have on shelves!!
It is good and defiantly a “treat” tea since it is only a once a year thing.
Preparation
ummm, Lemon grass, need I say more?
I love all things citrus, but lemon grass, a no! a thank-you! I should have paid more attention when I purchased 10g of this, but I am glad that it is only 10g and not a whole bag or whole tin.
But all is not lost, mixed with a little “green and fruity” and it is saved.
Preparation
One would think that 10g would go a long way…
Nope! I already know that I will have to get more of this tea and FAST, despite all these little samples I have that should be getting tasted and drunk and enjoyed, I am stuck like glue to this one! I carted my little basket of leaves around all day and steeped, steeped, steeped, when possible.
I love the lemon scent, followed by a mellow taste of oolong tea. I can’t describe the flavour past “mellow”, so-SO good though!
agreed! I just put up with the Jasmine in this, cuz I love it! the only tea I know that can get past my allergy <:o
I don’t notice the jasmine, it must be really subtle or I am not aware of what it is like, both in scent and taste. But the Lemon Myrtle flowers! oh God! I hope they make more teas with this!
I think you’re right about that, I can’t find the jasmine either but it’s in the ingredients list!
Lemon myrtle makes me happy :)
The girl at the store suggested that this one shouldn’t be resteeped. Is that right or do you find it is possible to resteep it?
If it shouldn’t be re-steeped I would not call it an oolong. I’ve re-steeped one serving 3 or more times…
I wonder if maybe she steeped the leaves too long for the first steep and therefore was not able to steep it again?
Not sure but she was explaining how oolongs are different to the friend I brought in with me and said Oolong’s can be steeped up to 5 times but just not this one. Maybe she isn’t a fan of this one.
I’ve resteeped this one, and it was great! Not sure why she would say that… maybe it’s got something to do with the myrtle?
I forgot I had this tea on my shelf, and I am glad it jumped out at me tonight, because after the day I had I needed some “love”
I did not have any coconut milk to bring out the subtle coconut that is in this tea, but the creamer I had on hand added an almost vanilla-e tone. This is defiantly more of a “fall or winter” tea, but when in the shoes I am in today, it is a much needed treat!
Preparation
3rd and 4th steep…
Still delish, the lemon-y and citrus-y flavours are starting to dissipate. I wish it was not so late I would try to get more steeps out of these leaves.
It is wonderful to know that 2tsp would yield a full 8 cup bodum of tea!Oh wow, can you smell that?! Refreshing, it is time to finish this cup and get me to bed.
Preparation
It is too late for me to be critical about this tea, but I must say: “I LIKEY!!”
The lemon seems to get stronger as I steep it more and more, and the finish, though astringent is really refreshing. I am on the second steep, and I can’t wait for the third.
The new “perfect scoop” is 1.5 tsp. The old one was only 1tsp.
oh… oops, I put too much tea in…
Is 4.5tsp too much for a 32 ounce pot?
I thought the new one was 1.25, but it is definitely more than 1.
I usually only use two perfect scoops of DavidsTeas for my pots of tea, and I’ve got one of the smaller ones. Of course, I’m also cheap with my tea. If it were a lower quality tea, I’d use more, but it all depends on how you like your tea. Trial and error, I guess. It always takes me a few pots in a new teapot to really figure out the best way to use it.
Uniguity, I think 1.5 might be right, because I never use the scoop for black teas when I am making one cup; flavoured or not I reach for “the old stand by, the tea spoon, because it is meant for measuring tea”
aisling, I almost never put the extra .25 or .5 of a tsp in and I only follow exact measurements for DAVIDs herbal teas and fruit teas, because all the rest just tastes too intense.
Yeah, I’ve learned to completely ignore the recommended steep time/amount of leaf on packages, I’m too picky about how I like mine.
Now I’m off to make a cuppa Read My lips, because I dreamed about it last night. >.<
I was mulling it over last night (while scratching a bug bite in bed and blaming insomnia on my own stupidity of a full pot of black at 7pm) and realised that I had put too much! tea into my new pot. Three perfect scoops make 4.5 tsps of tea, and it tasted “dark” – even the hubby commented: “I thought you were having tea, not coffee?”
It didn’t taste over steeped dark, but it tasted like too much tea dark, I know you are supposed to add a tsp for the pot, but my mothers friend who we call “Miss London” (she is from London, and loves her tea) said she has never added one for the pot, because if the tea is good quality the basket doesn’t need the “extra pounds” – LOL
XD. Yeah, no, the only teapot I use more than 2 tsps for is Betha, because she holds a liter and a half of water.
Yes, my teapots have names.
Yes, I need help.
