1792 Tasting Notes
So, this Salted Caramel chocolate bar? Fabulous. I can see the granules of fleur de sel in the bar, and that caramel really pops through. It’s on the sweet side, to be honest, as it burns the back of the throat a little bit, but that’s why it’s wonderful in small quantities. Would I get more? Hell yeah, but I should behave and not do so for a while. Let’s hope they’ll keep this one around for a little longer.
Sipdown! Thanks again to Sil, the super fantastical Sil, for passing some of this down to me! After an entire year, I finally took a deep breath and stopped hoarding this. Nothing like a wonderfully creamy matcha latte on St. Patrick’s Day.
I added some organic sugar and 2% milk to this and it seriously tasted and smelled like an almond cookie. Almond biscotti maybe? I’m going to have to try adding some actual Amaretto to my French Vanilla matcha to see how it would compare, but seriously, this is amazing and totally worth getting even if you already have matcha and Amaretto.
I decided to make pancakes for breakfast as an effort to use up some ingredients before the move. Plus, I had some lovely strawberries which were begging to be made into an accompanying compote. The only problem was that I didn’t have any orange or lemon juice. When I opened the fridge, a jug of Melon Drop, cold brewing away, caught my eye, so I stroked my imaginary beard and thought I’d give it a try.
Needless to say, it was delicious. What’s not to like about a strawberry compote with hints of honeydew? Damn. I’m going to have to make more strawberry Melon Drop compote soon. I still have quite a bit of flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla extract, and maple syrup left, after all.
Sorry for the late reply! Cold brewing is so easy. I just fill up a jug with water and dump some leaves in (either directly in, or in a teabag if there are any around), then let it sit in the fridge for overnight or 8+ hours, depending on what I’m doing. It’s a forgiving method. Per two litres, I just dump in a few teaspoons too.
Aww thank you for explaining how you cold brew!
I’ll have to try it soon, perfect for summer coming up.
Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend!
Oh yeah, I actually finished this the other day. It was pretty good for cold brewing but not overly amazing, and especially for the price. I’d actually sooner have DAVIDs Berry Poppins or Redberry Tonic, and those are quite a bit cheaper. Most importantly, they’re tastier, I’d say.
Another sipdown! More accurately, a pour-out. The little leaves that I had left went into the composter. It’s so incredibly old, the chocolate note is waxy, and I swear there’s even a cardboard note in here too. I wouldn’t want anyone drinking this stuff, at least when it’s already 3.5 years old.
Sipdown! And I am so grateful for that. I cold brewed the last of it, and while it was better (not as 90s lotiony as before), it still has these odd twangs here and there which make it hard to believe that this is a tea. To add fuel to the fire, I used the last of the cold brew to help down some castor oil since I’ll never have to drink this again anyway. DO NOT WANT.
Well, this would have been a sipdown if I didn’t go back to DAVIDs a while ago and got more. I did just what I said I thought I’d do in my last note: I went to buy another Sunny Citrus chocolate bar (plus the Chocolate Macaroon to get the deal), plus around 20g of Sunny Citrus tea and 50g of Melon Drop, but ended up walking away with 100g tins of this, Sunny Citrus, and Melon Drop because of their buy two get one free promotion right now. Ugh! Well, I cold brew these, and was meaning to get more anyway, so it ended up being a good deal. Now I have seven DAVIDs tins. Seven! Oh well.
This is just so delicious cold brewed. Like berries and cream.
Oh…that last part reminded me of a candy commercial…I think for Starburst? Ok, so I had to look it up. It’s one of the weirder commercials out there, but still funny.
Whoa, so I just had half a Sunny Citrus chocolate bar and I am ridiculously impressed! It’s a lot like having a Cadbury fruit and nut bar due to its texture yet it kind of tastes like a chocolate orange, except replace the orange with lime. Hibiscus in chocolate is also a win.
I haven’t even tried my other bar yet (Salted Caramel) but I’m already anticipating going back to pick up another one of these before they’re gone. And more of the actual tea.
Yeah, they’re good! I didn’t know they partnered up with a chocolatier in Montreal, so the chocolate is a better quality than originally expected.
Hmm, didn’t really get much butterscotch or mocha like I did before, but granted, even last time, it was soft. Them parameters can make all the difference, and I highly doubt it lost that much flavour in just four months, when I last had it.
I just bought some lovely Danish lip liner and gloss and am testing it out, so if I want more tea, I should drink it out of a straw!
I have a lot of tea from David’s, but I’ve never even heard of this one. Is it from an older collection?
They came out with this and another straight tea a few months ago. I guess they were LE? Either way, it wasn’t terribly impressive, at least to me.
